Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

@Mfranks Girl, that's a super nice grill ya got there, lol Sorry, I do not know how to talk like the youngsters today but I try. That is a very nice tractor. I have a 48inc Husvarqna and I want to get the plow for the front before winter comes. It iwll make my life easier with the snow at least in the front.
@Sally PB Your girls seem to be doing fine. Like any teen, they want to challenge boundaries. :lau
@RaZ hey if corporate wants to the things that way and you can get the benefit, the more the merrier. Looks like you have a good supply to keep you for a while.

I went to HD and got me 6 bags of potting soil for the front beds. and a few garden blocks. I also got a few pieces of wood and the last wall on the east side has began. I finished one third with the hard cloth and chicken wire. But I am tired becasue even though is not sunny, it is plenty hot and I only go outside with long sleeves. I also did the front yard. Tomorrow I will finish the back yard and get on with the bottom part of the remaining wall. I still have to do a corner to closed it to the coop. The girls are doing fine. Odd that Sophia, the naked neck one, her comb and face is all red and even part of her neck. I caught her sizing a nest box. Hopefully she starts laying soon. Blanch the Americauna has her comb red too but she seems like eggs is not in her tiny brain yet. I am getting 3 eggs a day for a week now.

Question, My first layer, Rachel, she is still laying very small eggs. Does it take long for them to lay a decent size egg? Monica and Phoebe's eggs are small but bigger than Rachel's eggs.

I have not been around much hoping to finish the run before the month is over and since I do not want to talk to strangers in another thread, I will do it with you guys because I feel comfortable with you all. I was told that I am pre-diabetic.I do not want to get diabetes because it runs in my family. However, my diet is the worse. I do not eat vegetables and the few times I have try a sald, it does not go well. I am keeping a 24 oz mug of coffee a day instead of 3 or 4. Now the pepsi's, that is very hard to let go. I changed from 20 oz to 12 oz but if I am working a lot outside and it is hot, I am reaching for that pepsi like oxygen. Since my eating habits are so bad, I have no other chice but to do exercises. A plate in an ankle and bad knees will have to get used to it. This Wednesday I went to a zumba class. It was not too bad but talk about soreness!!!! horrible the next day. ! But I have to do it so I can keep my intake low by burning most of it. Why do we have to get old?:idunno

Catch up later if I donot go to bed early. Love ya all!

Keep your chin up @Dreamzchaser and keep working at it. You will complete your projects sooner than you know! As for the diabetes…try to incorporate little changes into your diet. It is the hardest habit to break, but unfortunately, it is the best way to keep you healthy long term. GET YOUR ZUMBA ON GIRL!!! After hard workouts and the pain that comes later…I say that pain is weakness leaving the body! Perhaps you can make a deal with yourself that you can have a Pepsi only after you drink a large glass of water first. Sugar is toxic to your body. You can do this!! Also, if you have a pool nearby or access to water aerobics, that might be an alternative for you with minimal impact on your joints.

Don’t give up…you will get there!

The worst thing that ever happened in the diet world is low fat foods in my opinion. They are loaded with sugar and processed into God only knows what and injected into weird shapes for people to mistakenly think they are healthy and convenient.

are there any broth based soups in your culture that you could load up on some of those veges you don’t like much and add some meat for flavoring?

My first meal every day is 2 eggs scrambled, 1/3 of an avocado and a couple of sliced tomatoes. I also do 16:8 intermittent fasting. I know it’s not for everyone, but I wanted to get my eating under control and didn’t want to eat stuff I couldn't/wouldn’t maintain. I lost the 9 pounds I gained from Covid and after a few weeks it became very easy to live with.

Big changes aren’t easy @Dreamzchaser, but you moved to Michigan without really knowing anyone which was also a huge thing. Don’t be too hard on your self. Keep telling yourself…”I CAN DO ANYTHING!!!” Because you can!

My PT recommended an "under the desk foot peddler" to use for keeping the legs going. The good thing is you can do it while reading, watching tv, knitting, etc. I have a connective tissue disorder and have to be careful with how I get my exercise in.

.....and the sodium is insane!

Qubii!!

Is anyone here on the cauliflower band wagon? It has always been one that I’ve had a hard time getting down. That said…I love Chinese food and fried rice. Just whipped up a batch of cauliflower fried rice, and although it’s not like regular fried rice, I could eat this pretty regularly. Lite soy and a little sesame oil…game changer.

Going out to play with the tractor now. I just want throw a rock at it and get the first scratch over with!!! I’m going to move some rocks today and hopefully cut the grass down front.

Have a great day everyone!

Oh, Michelle, you are such a great person. Thank you. I think the water/pepsi challenge I can make. I just have to order water because my water is almost gone. I drink Zepherhills and comes from Florida. I need to see if I can find good spring water up here.
Zumba pain, lol not a joke. I did mostly everything but high jumping and mostly low impact. Of course knees and especially ankle were ready for the oven,
I would love to have a pool nearby. The only one that is open to the publlic is in Muskegon and I know me, that is a driving commitment I will not do. Need to play the lotto. Maybe I get a good prize and can build me a covered pool. I do not like the sun. That is the only vitamin D I cannot tolerate, :lau (an islander speaking) I know they have water aerobics in some gyms but not enough to pay for a membership and later on, not use it.
Can I go to sleep and wake up in 2010?

I laughed when the doctor said will have me take classes about diet. I cannot do diets. I have to get my heart pumping and exercise a lot. 2 years ago I was walking up to 10 miles a day. Funny but truth, when I decided to take the walking away from the Lakes Mall, I used to take the whitehall/Montague/Hart trail. I would start in Whitehall and end up at the begining of Rothbury. The funny part is that now I live right by it and have to drive its crossings every time.
I guess if I try making them into puree in the soups they might fly down my throat with no falvor, lol I have not been able to search and understand that intermitent fasting. There has to be a science to it.

Did I mentioned how I got to Michigan in here? Do we know each other? I cannot recall mentioned. But yes, I moved to Michigan on a dream that was given to me more than once. Now I am wondering if I did or if I know you from somewhere and know my story. I am ok with it. I like to live a life of an open book. So there are no misunderstandings.
