Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I wish it had been a little warmer, for the sake of standing there and watching. I'm just grateful that the wind of last night had died down!

One more thing about these people:

A tree came down across our road, about half a mile away. You could drive around, out on the farmer's field (but you better have 4 wheel drive). One of the guys cut off the part that was on the road and moved it to the side.

Who knows when the county might have gotten to it. Although, Consumers Energy might have had to do it. We had a power outage last night for about 15 hours.

I have pruned and felled a lot of trees. I learned that it is best to hire a professional.

Egg output soared today. Three (3) butt nuggets were left for me. I had only been getting 1/day for the last 2 weeks.

When I went out at 6 pm to close up the poultry there was an opossum on the porch and one on the ground nearby. I had to laugh watching him waddle down the steps.

We used to say that Prince Fielder of the Detroit Tigers looked like a possum as he ran to first base. So when we see a possum running down the side of the road, we say, "Run, Prince, run!"

Has that possum been eating your eggs?

I read an interesting article lately that postulated that a lot of pain is caused by misdirected angst, that it can be a physical manifestation of anger, fear, depression, and other negative emotions. The article said that one way to help deflect those negative thoughts is to journal about them. Meaning you sit down each day with a pen and notebook, or on a computer, and write about the negatives you are feeling. You do not try to balance it out with positives, or put a happy face on things - just let those negative feelings wash out onto the page. I've been considering it for myself; a lot of time just expressing your fears or negatives can be cathartic, and this way it would be without putting the burden of your problems on a listener.

Not that I ever mind offering a listening ear, or a helping hand, I can just see that it may be easier to honestly let things go if you don't feel the additional concern of whether your listener is put into the difficult position of listening and wondering if they should do something.
I do this every day but sometimes there is so much that I forget, lol

Mine went down some. From 12 eggs was on 7 to 9 and today was only six. The knuckleheads keep messing with the chips on it. I put a cement block on it this time. Will see tomorrow.

I saw one today as I was driving home a few streets over. Hope he does not come this way.

We dropped off our third dead opossum today to the DNR, for necropsy. The first two, found near to this third, died of bacterial septicemia. This is so strange! I've never found even one dead opossum that didn't have an obvious cause of death. We'll see how this one comes out.
This morning, a hawk attack while I was doing food and water out there. The bird aborted her attack at the very last minute, when the birds reacted, and I went the five or six feet out of the coop to see it all happening. Spent another hour rounding up scared birds to get them in the coop, leaving eleven still out at the barn. Amazingly, all showed up unharmed at dusk, so everyone is on lockdown for two weeks or so, hoping this bird moves on.
Drama we all don't need!
I wimped out on doing gardening this afternoon, windy and chilly.
Mary
