Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Just like the back of the oven is hotter, the back of the fridge is colder. It's farther away from the opening.
Evidentaly, the elements can be replaced pretty easily. And it didn't damage anything else. They were going to get a new stove in the next few weeks anyway, though, so will just do that.
So... turkey for Thanksgiving after all?

It is easy to do if you have the element. Not likely to happen this week.

But the gravy turkey was done before the element blew. She said there was a little left from that - are a few bites for each of us at least. So... not really. It will be good times anyway.

I have one in the freezer that I bought to take but I can't get it thawed in time to roast it before I leave. It will just add the to story we make from the situation. 🙂

Not for me.
Not for your beer, the function of the fridge.
It takes very low temps to slush out alcohol, even lite(lower alcohol) beer.
Have you tried turning down the temp control?
Do you have a thermometer to put in there to check temps in different areas.

My fridge is very old, there's a hole between fridge and freezer that had a 'valve' to control the air movement, it was attached to a bin/drawer that I removed, now I have to put something in front of the whole to partially block it or stuff will freeze in the fridge.

Quick job to dump old coop bedding...right.
Until steering linkage on tractor broke.
Luckily can see the part, and have a spare on the parts tractor,
but threads are frozen on both(currently soaking in WD-40).
Tractor sits on back lawn, unsteerable.
😭

...and I didn't print out that section of the tech manual years ago, and now the CD won't run. <grrrr>
It is SO frustrating to know how to fix something, and not be able to actually do it.
Will have to tarp it for Thursdays precipitation forecast.

A little bit of bedtime drama tonight. Usually the chickens are in the coop a little bit before full dark Then the ducks go in about 1/2 hour after full dark. I go out after that to close up the coop.

Well tonight, the ducks were still up by the porch well after full dark. I went out and turned on the coop light to be a target to aim for. I tried to herd them to the coop with a flood but at the 1/2-way point they turned away. Then hens started coming out of the coop and raising a ruckus. The kind of noise that says something is wrong here and it's freaking us out. I go in to the coop and sure enough there is a young opossum hiding in the corner. I had to move a couple of chip bales and a food container to make a clear path to the open door for an escape route. Opossum was gone in a flash. Chickens and ducks were still outside and I left them alone to find their way back to the coop.
It wasn't long before every bird was home safe-and-sound. So a happy ending to the story. Plus I got 5 eggs today. So much better than the 1 or 2 I have been getting. :wee

This fridge was new back in spring. It took a while to get the controls/temp dialed in I had the thermometer at the very front. Should I put the thermometer in the very centre and fine tune the controls? It's a cheapo fridge and I don't think the controls are all that accurate.

I feel your pain. As an engineer, (an ME at that) nothing frustrates me more that not being able to fix something that I have in the past or at least know how to. :he
