Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

It's been snowing all afternoon with little accumulation. But is has picked like crazy at 4:00pm. That's the time that the winter storm warning was set to start. Snow all night long they say. 3-6 inches.

My road was plowed today. I'm the only house on this section of dirt road but it is a county road and always get plowed. They have a new guy driving this route. He doesn't quite do as good of job as the old guy but I can't complain. The plow missed the mailbox by 5 feet so I fired up the tractor to clear up close to make it easier for the mailman to get to it. Then for the heck of it I cleared a path to the coop and garage then went ahead and did the driveway before bringing in wood. Other than going out to close up the coop, I'm in for the night. Gotta get an automatic coop door.

Our road hasn't been plowed yet. Our neighbor plowed the private part from the mailboxes up to our drive. I shoveled our drive. DH says he will be coming home tonight, road plowed or not.

The chickens are staying inside, for the most part. I'll go out in a bit with some chickie snack to check on them and scoop the poop. The way the wind is swirling, there is a half inch of snow on everything in the run. I would not have thought so, but there it is.

At least it's a light, fluffy snow.
Same inside my run but only on the East side since the wind was blowing from the south here.

Well, this morning I woke to 13" in a few places where the wind did not blew much. The other parts were horrific. Hub was not able to go to work. Too much to drive over it. His truck was left outside and looked like a double bus from London, lol
Spent all day cleaning with the tractor. Darn thing will not shift to the left. So, he did it all forward. The road was not touched by the GOV at all. By the time we got back around 4pm home, the plow had gone by. Late must I say,

Girls got used to come outside in teh afternoon and I still leave it open for a few minutes but they are not having it at all. Sophia, the naked neck decided today to lay an egg. SHe had not laid in the past 2 months, lol
So far, not bad in the eggs department. From 11 girls, I am getting between 6 and 9 every other day. Today was 7.

Was very determined to beging procedures to fight the city ordenance. However, after all the praying, It was finally done. Farm animals are allowed according to Michigan Farm and Agriculture department. So, more work for me,lol Things are not getting better but more difficult. Prices keep going up on everything. I guess now that I have a green light, I will one day have enough pork, beef and poultry to do my meat shopping from home, lol
You guys need to stay safe. Another storm is coming in tonight and seems like it will be snowing on and off until Wednesday of next week.

Love you all

Well I was welcomed back from sunny Florida, land of the tall palm trees, beaches , and lots and lots of birds, by 6 degrees and northeast wind. And a broken wiper blade on the car :hmm. So glad to be home... (insert sarcasm emoji here)
Welcome back! We saves some snow for you. Please, PLEASE come get some. We got dumped on in the Huron Mt area.

I know all about city ordinances, Dreamz. I fought the city for nearly 20 years thanks to a arsehole neighbor.

Not much snow here despite the radio blaring about a big storm overnight. 2 inches max here. Snow plow came through around 8:30. I have a cul-de-sac turn-around for the county road but there is a dirt road on the state land that goes back a mile to the lake there. Anyway, the plow didn't slow down in time and continued for a good three truck lengths into the woods. I thought he was going to get stuck. Lots of cars and trucks do. There is a big dip in the road and a soft sand pit just beyond. I imagine that the weight of the salt in the back let him back out and finish the turn-around.

It's darn cold here today. Only 9 degrees but the sun is out and blinding reflecting off of the snow. It's supposed to below 0 tonight. I'll suit up and go plow out the mailbox and fart around on the tractor until I get cold.

I did something different this morning. Instead of opening the coop and letting the birds out, I took a waterer to the coop and put it on the floor and closed the coop back up. I'm sure the ducks would have come out but the chickens seemed content to stay in. I'll open it back up when I go out to plow.

I guess I'm just sitting here typing this out so I can delay going out in the cold. So it's time to put on my big-boy onesie and go move snow. Ugh. Stay warm ya'll.

Yep, this about right...I'm just east of the darkest color.
18-24" is accurate here.....and it's still coming down like mad!
