Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I know about the insurance. However, I own in both states and can spend all least 60 days on each and still be a resident. 2018 I was here to work in schools and had an accident coming from Chicago O'hare to Michigan. Went out on first exit in MI and on my way back in the highway, got on black ice and my truck turned 180. Had to get police to help me move the truck and he helped with moving my fender so I could continue to drive back to Muskegon. My insurance paid 10K for damage to a rail that nothing happened to it while my truck has busted every corner. My chevy still runs, lol It's a Chevy! Like a rock!

My insurance is for Veteran's and it is from Fl. Never have been stopped and also drove 2 yrs without a brake light, but fixed now. My son says it is because of my veteran sticker's on my truck. I believe it is just divine protection. I always have my seat belt on, lights on even on day time, signal for everything, stop like 3 times on stops signs. By the way, what is up with some stop signs? There are like 4 to 5 ft from the corner, lol Florida is the same way and that was my very first ticket ever. I need to stop where I can see the sides but nope! I need to stop .05 acre before the corner, :lau

Dreamz. You have to actually stay at the residence you claim for more than six months of the year (as in six months plus one day) to claim residency there. With a few exceptions like active military service and away at school.

Otherwise, you can get in trouble with everyone from social security to home owners insurance (vacant house cost more to insure) to property tax (whether you claim homestead or not), state tax headaches...

We've been dealing with this for the last few years with my mother's estate.

Mexico had a similar thing in reverse. I could only work there for 3 weeks then I had to leave the country for at least 24 hours. Since I didn't technically have to come home to Michigan I travelled all over the country for weekend excursions. All on the company dime. Good times.

I made it after 2 days. Hell in here. Fl turnpike was a mess. Orlando is so different.
Yes, I left the house with family member and will pay the yingyang to Michigan.
Can't wait to b back home. Hate this heat. 92 is terrible 4 me. I can see the girls but I know they miss me as much as I miss them.
Most hotels are expensive whore/drug houses now. Terrible. Will try to post in 2 days. Come and save me! Lol

57 degrees yesterday and it is now 30 with a good 3 inches of snow on the ground and it's still coming down. County truck plowed around 11:00 am. By noon you couldn't even tell. I cleared the road around the mailbox. Don't want the mailman to get stuck.
Welcome to Michigan.
