Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Morning everyone 🌞
Sunshine but cold still.
I am enjoying my chicks. They have pin feathers galore, fuzzy heads and breasts, full wings and back feathers. I have one of my girls with two toes on her left foot crooked outward. I just noticed it yesterday. They don't hang when she walks but they are crooked. Does this indicate a problem that I should have her checked? Otherwise they are looking great.
Have a happy day friends🤓

Did you all see that Family Farm and Home has a Ready to lay hen program for those that don't want to mess with chicks?
But chicks are half of the fun!!! Peep Peep Peep!!!

Didn't see that this morning, but I was in there this morning getting feed and saw chicks, looked like just meat birds today, but they're all set up for more. Will need to stay strong and avoid the Chicken Math Problem.

Also hoping that it thaws out some this week as I ordered new deer net fencing for my chicken pen 2 weeks ago. This one is supposed to be a little more heavy duty, which is good as there was another hole in the old fencing this morning. Just need the ground thawed out enough that I can set pins in the ground.

With the 40-50s and close to 60 temps they are "advertising" on the news, a lot of things should thaw out this week. I hope.

I'll be stabbing the pitchfork into the compost pile today, to see how it's thawing out. Really want to get the "done" pile moved so that I can start a new one with the winter poop. I'll be mixing in lots of raked up leaves, because it's just about all poop. The critters have taken most of the kitchen scraps I've added.
