SCIFISARAH!
Pat the Bantam Cochin... Still not sure what he/she is gender wise...

Look at that rear end! Poor thing is so darn feathered!
He is still in PC... I try and let him run around with the silkies, but Roger Jr is a royal backside, which makes me think its a boy, but Skeeter is a royal witch to him too... like she's trying to keep him in his proper place... SO... I don't know. Soledad, the splash silkie hen, she's his buddy. They sleep side by side on either side of the trelis separating them...

Yes. Tomorrow I am building a larger house in the garage for them. Roger Jr will stay on one side with Skeeter. They've taken to each other very well. And the other side will house Soledad and Pat.

He's not a rooster. He's an exotic ground parot.

I let the birds out this afternoon after work. Kinda late. All of them were over in Mrs. Browns yard, which is very large, and very open. So, I am standing over there, just outside the treeline, but visable to any damnagit hawk. No hawks today! ANYWAY, so, it is getting close to the time for me to go and get Jace from Bible Club, I whistle for them all to come. Almost all come running. Skatter on the other hand, decides what she has is way more important than bringing her puffy faced, fluffy footed rear end back to the home yard. Fritz the Jerk realises she isn't coming, so he goes running at her, she sees him coming and starts running towards me. Rod Stewart turns around, sees Fritz the Jerk in hot pursuit of Skatter, Skatter sees Rod, coming at her, she hits the grass, Rod hits Fritz, turns and does his rooster deed and while he is doing that, Fritz serema chops Rod upside the head. Funniest thing I have ever seen in my life! Good thing I had already went pee.

Trefoil do you remember which sight?
ebay-business/industral - livestock supplies - poultry, I got them from cconoly, but that was back in the spring of 2011
I hope everyone is prepared... lol

OOh goody, its warming up!r
It was quite a day for me so I think I'll share.

I went to court as support for another CG chicken keeper. The prosecutor saw us together and was actually cordial as he greeted us. He then offered to adjourn Mike's case as there were other cases pending and it might affect Mike's case. The prosecutor hinted that they were not doing well in court and were not likely to appeal if they lose. (Prosecution got hammered in the change of venue case that is pending)

While waiting, I saw my court appointed attorney there representing another case. As it turns out, the lawyer is representing a fellow landscaper with an on-going action. We were all introduced and during the conversation, a trade was worked out between Tom and myself. He would provide me with hickory wood and I would provide him with eggs. A commercial transaction in the exchange of commerce. In front of court witnesses. A huge plus for both of our cases.

So later, Tom delivers about 7,000 pounds of wood and I give him 2 dozen eggs. He goes on to tell me that 2 of his neighbors have chickens and he never considered that they "might" not be allowed in the city. That triggers my "teacher reflex" and I explain the situation and how it pertains to us suburban folk.

Then I show him the eggs and how they have some "smears" on the shell. I explained the egg bloom and the reason that I do not wash eggs (until right before using). I explained the difference that he can expect between store bought eggs and the ones that I gave him. I suggested that he crack a store egg and compare it to a fresh egg.

Just a little while ago, he calls me to say that his kids were fascinated by the coloured eggs and how cool they were. The kids were so enthused that the whole family had eggs for dinner. Just not the white store eggs.

Sounds like you got the best of that deal.

Not really. He still walks a bit wonky, like he is bow legged, but is walking around much better. He can sure move it too. He's also getting used to being outside. I have him a little shelter I built from a small left over peice of fencing and chicken wire. Then at one end, I have a peice of corragated card board in the event of wind or rain with a small chick waterer and feeder dish.
