Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I just heard a couple rumbles of thunder...

I bought a couple of rhubarb plants today. I tried it for the first time yesterday and LOVE it. So of course I have to have some in my garden.

Speaking of gardens, Dreamz, it looks like yours is going to be fantastic! What are you going to plant in it?

Radar shows a nasty storm front up there.

Shade cloth doesn't help with heat much when it's cloudy...and 92°.

So I installed the fan, to cool things off faster later.

Radio weather donk said a "zero percent chance of rain". I wonder what that booming noise in the sky was. And all of the liquid on the windshield as I drove to work. :idunno

Got the garden tilled and ready for planting. I'll probably start putting things in the ground this weekend. I still need to replace the posts and fencing to keep the chickens and other critters out. Loving the warm weather.

My seed potatoes arrived this afternoon. I'll be planting them tomorrow. Magic Molly blue figerlings. Not my first choice, but that was what they had left in the blue or red fleshed department. I'll also plant some of the Elba that are sprouting in the basement.

I have 4 potato sprouts showing from my first planting. :clap

Just for the heck of it, I'm going to plant some beans. Yeah, it'll get cool again next week, but I want to see if I can get beans before my friend in Allegan does. She always beats me by a couple weeks.

Have no clue. So far my roof is about to collapse and need to work on the chicken run. Will explain in a bit.

Same for this area but they surely LIED!

Horrible Horrible afternoon.

Here I am after I see that all got dark and in nightgown but went out and closed the coop window in case it rained. Little did I know, it was raining fearlesly. I though for a second there was a hurracaine because it was super windy and torrential rain. Went to my truck and grabbed the umbrella to just check around the run since I had taken the plastic out. OMG!, they were all getting wet in the back. So I turn around to go in and move them but the wind took my umbrella away from my hands and broke it. SO I am in a nightgown and rubber boots and went inside the run. I began to moved them inside the coop but then hail size of a quarter began to come down very fast and furious. I am like "mama's come" but the original six, stayed under the coop. I moved the Wyndottes inside the coop because the other would be ok under the coop. But them I had Pitbull and the sebrights. It was a fight and all I hear is this rumble in the top. I prayed that it would not break. Ended up leaving the sebrights out under the coop and putting Pitbull in the cage inside the coop while the Wyndottes were inside the coop with all doors closed so they stayed there and not fight the others under the coop. Got hit plenty on my run back to the house. Soaked and wet, changed and hear this dripping sound like water on the floor. I am looking towards the laundry room but Hub said that it was in the skylight thingy. OK, I get out of the bathroom all changed up and the rain just completely stopped. So here I am back to moving the animals again. Put Pitbull and the sebrights in the Wyndottes cage and let the Wyndottes around their run and the small area. But Pitbull gave them a beat so I ended up going around and putting some plastic back with a huge board so when it rains they do not get wet themselves. I have to put the plastic around the whole bottom tomorrow. They are dry and ok. I went to check on them around 830pm and they were dry and rather hot,lol

All is good for the night Thank God! Tomorrow will be more work. Then after I came back I went to my bathroom and took the side door when I noticed the water on the floor and the light fixture is half full of water. Called the guy who is coming on Friday to do the roof to let him know what was going on. It will cost me more money than what it was proposed but it is what it is. It has been a very hectic day for me. I even got dizzy and lightheaded but I am fine. Bp was only 150/74. It has been in the 160-170/84 these week. I think it was the stress of the whole ordeal.

I have never seen hail in Michigan. The first time I ever saw hail was in Texas when I was stationed at Fort Hood. Then never again until today. Kind of forgot what winds of a hurracaine were until I was remembered today. I had lived through too many of those in PR and FL and would not want to live in those areas again if I can avoid it. If the heat was this high yesterday and today, that only tellsme that this summer will be loving for Michigander's, lol. I might need to go up north a few miles more to stay away from all the heat, lol No,just kidding. I have lived and traveled to many states and so far, I love Michigan. There is a lot of things that I do not like but still think that people are better here. Besides, I stay to myself most of the time now that I am older.

Well, hope you all had a good laugh about my ordeal. Love you all and will let you guys know how it all ends up. If I do not come around, it will be for a few reasons. Too busy doing all this crazy fixings and maybe internet since the internet antena is on the roof and they are going to replace the roof. Then wait until the internet company comes and re-directs the darn antena again and hopefully they can put it somewhere else than on the roof.

By the way, I am so greatfull for Pitbull and I love him so much already. I tell him that I can be his girlfriend too,lol You will know when you read this if it makes sense to you.

@Dreamzchaser , sorry for your 'adventure' yesterday!
First, have your roof and any outside vehicles checked for hail damage!!! We got a new roof last year because of hail damage, and the car fixed, both on insurance. our roof was also nearly ready to be 'retired', but replaced, and also two skylights replaced, because of the hail. have your roofer inspect it today, and call insurance if it's damaged by the hail.
Also, your chickens can cope with rain and wind, let them go inside if they want. Ours were very capable of sorting out bad weather by themselves.
All the best, Mary
