Sadly, I agree. You sure touched a nerve with me! I've worked hard and I've worked smart, but I was always passed over by those who worked "pretty". Or worked politically.
Brands do matter in the corporate world, what others think can help or hurt your career. Appearances matter far more than what people want to admit. That's a dirty little secret that no one will ever admit to. Hitting mid-life should not be an issue, but reality suggests that it is a factor. At least from my point of view.
I don't think that you are being "obsessive", I just think that if you are worried about what the "crowd" thinks, then you are missing the fact that you are "first class" and it doesn't matter what the guests think.
If you really want to be "first class" then be true to yourself. You can't make people like you or appreciate you, but you can like and appreciate your own self through your own eyes and not the eyes of others. Do that and you can't go wrong. Who cares what the crowd thinks. Smile and wink at them and they will go crazy trying to figure out what you know that they don't.
No kidding, the blackberries are so thick this year. Cindy put up a few dozen jars of jam for me. I picked this morning before the rain and I can see at least 25 more quarts forming.Picked more Blackberries last night and HAD to make my son a pie with the ones he picked. Today we start on chicken baths and grooming for the fair. The fair starts on Sunday but the chickens aren't judged until next Thursday. I have Salsa and Jam to can today and some sewing to get finished. It looks like we may actually get a few drops of rain today so I may not have to water the garden.
I was wondering the same thing- we have added a new garden spot and are prepping it now. I was thinking that we had better wait until all the fencing is up before adding lime. I can just see all the girls in there eating it up.Question,,,,if I put garden lime (it is grain like) will the chickens eat it and will it make them sick?? would like to sweeten the soil under the coop
