Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I'm so pleased that many of us are having a peaceful, more or less happy holiday season. Bry, Jo, and I spent Sunday with family in Stanton at brothers home. Very nice day with loved ones we don't see often enough. Bry got a set of router cutters for me, and Jo kicked in a dozen hankies. Now I know why it was so difficult to find gifts for parents. They have most of what they want. At least we do. Exception being youth. Life is good today for us. May all of you be blessed too. Guess I'm with you on thankfulness, Sam.

Bad? Solar only recharges when it's not cloudy, which it is most of the winter. :( Bottom line, if you can find a little light to do your chores with, it's great. But I would not go all- out on it! If winter laying is what you are after, you are better off getting breeds that lay better in the winter and having a nice big window for them to sun in :) My current EE's for some reason are winter layers, and the window is the only thing i have; i am getting an egg almost every day from those 2!

I am the odd one out that wishes for non-winter layers, i would prefer that they layed when they could get their extra minerals and whatnot from scratching around outside. The greens they get out in the yard are far better sources of calcium than the grit i provide, it's much more digestable. So i provide the best diet i can, and hope it's enough! (Eating broccoli for example will give you more calcium than a glass of milk, a little known fact!)

Merry Christmas to you too Chicken Rustler! I hope you are well and its nothing very serious. Hope the wife is well also. You'll be in our prayers here.

Christmas so far was a good one. I just finished burning the wrapping and all the odds and ends. Dinner isn't for another 2 hours, so... Kids are doing their own thing with all the different stuff. Seems DS1 likes DS2 toy better than his own! LOL. DS2 isn't as interested in his new touchpad... oh well. He'll use it more when DS1 is at school. LOL.

Anyway, have a good day!

Thanks DW is for the most part the same. I am ok it is some medication issues. Actually I made a post on WA and shared in order to try to help others. I am willing to share here just in hopes that it may save somebody from going down the potentially VERY BAD path I was headed on. Please let me know if you peeps would like me to share.

Perhaps some solar lights are better than others; mine won't recharge when it's cloudy. ?

Anyway, kinda gross but i added this poop chart to my disease/ diagnosing notes, i really love this gal! She has outdone herself again, this is the most down to earth and detailed explanation yet i have found on what's normal and what's not :) http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/2012/02/whats-scoop-on-chicken-poop-digestive.html

I did say it was gross, but for those of us who can't go to the vet...... really necessary to have all the info one can get!!!
