I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas! I may be an atheist, but I am still so fond of the time spent with family on the holidays. My family doesn't fall into the fiasco and commercialization of the Christmas season, and instead focus on spending time with each other.
I spent today doing all the cooking of things that can be done the day before. Pecan pie is always a favorite here, followed by classic pumpkin. I made a pecan cake, too, to stir things up a bit. It'll be a 'frakencake' since the cake layers stuck to each cake pan, despite buttering the pan sides! Doh! At least it'll taste good, and pecan based frosting makes a good 'glue'.
Yesterday I processed our goose gander raised specifically for Christmas day. I avoided making friends with him since I knew it was his fate. I used a .22 for a headshot from a distance while he freeranged. I am sure he literally didn't know what hit him. I didn't want to stress him out with chasing him around. He was happy 'til the last instant. But he'll make an amazing dinner, he dressed out nicely. But I was picking down from my clothing and hair for hours afterward.
