Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas! I may be an atheist, but I am still so fond of the time spent with family on the holidays. My family doesn't fall into the fiasco and commercialization of the Christmas season, and instead focus on spending time with each other.

I spent today doing all the cooking of things that can be done the day before. Pecan pie is always a favorite here, followed by classic pumpkin. I made a pecan cake, too, to stir things up a bit. It'll be a 'frakencake' since the cake layers stuck to each cake pan, despite buttering the pan sides! Doh! At least it'll taste good, and pecan based frosting makes a good 'glue'.

Yesterday I processed our goose gander raised specifically for Christmas day. I avoided making friends with him since I knew it was his fate. I used a .22 for a headshot from a distance while he freeranged. I am sure he literally didn't know what hit him. I didn't want to stress him out with chasing him around. He was happy 'til the last instant. But he'll make an amazing dinner, he dressed out nicely. But I was picking down from my clothing and hair for hours afterward.

Have a good one everybody!

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope that you get to spend it with some wonderful friends and family members... Of course, for us animal people there is no rest... We don't have electricity to our coop and right not it is not an option. Wondered if anyone has had any luck with solar lighting in their building? Just searching online for a reasonable price. Just nervous about getting junk ya know :)
PS Everyone here has been great at answering all my odd questions. Thanks sooo much! Tomorrow we go pick up a Phoenix Roo! I am a little excited LOL
