Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

We haven't lost power. Got some freezing rain yesterday, but turned to rain. On and off all day. Right now the sun is shinning and looks so pretty. Tomorrow more wintery mess in am. I have to get to Okemos to sit for my grand son. Hope it's not too bad. Sometimes there weather people like to add a bit of drama to their forcasts.
Hope the meds help, RaZ, and you can have your surgery and get better.

Hello all. Boy, the things I do to take care of my chickens...the ice storm came 8 days after I got 7 chicks. To keep them warm the 1st night I stuck them in my shirt & zipped up my coat...what a poopy mess 🙃 Nx day I took chicks in brooder to daughters house 45 min away where she had power. Hubby called said he got generator working, so I took them home. Generator quit after 6 hours, I made hot water bottles for the chicks and took them back to daughters house...three hours later HER power cut out. So at midnight I drove back home, I had NO business driving at night while it was snowing, could barely see the road. Nx morning got an inverter from Lowes, left car running, plugged extension cord into inverter and plugged in brooder heat. Good news is babies are great, have suddenly become little feisty teenagers 😁 How are you all doing today? I hear maybe more ice for us in South MI coming Friday? ugh.

My goodness! You win!!

Went out to clean the coops and run this afternoon. Just inside the run was a dead vole. No blood, freshly dead (as in, wasn't there last night). The girls were all in the big coop, apparently waiting for me to come and remove it. We don't put poison out, so I'm assuming one of the girls killed it
Have seen this before.

Yeah! They call use crazy chicken people but in my defense, I was crazy way before chickens, lol
Anyways, kept calling the energy company until a real person got the phone. 40min after the call, 3 trucks drove by. Hopped outside and felt like if I was stranded in an island and one stopped. Told him no eleand no water for 2 days. He screamed back at me to give him a few minutes and he will have me connected. The Lord is so good. In a few minutes, power was on. Finally took my snow suit off. Not good for sleeping for sure. But is what I have and worked. Let girls and quackies out and took a very long shower.
Well, tonight LoveChild lost his middle toe nail. They always have to have a little brawl before setting in place. Apparently he knocked it with the roost. Good thing I was putting the quackies in for the night and always go in to check on them all and saw all that blood.
Picked him up and had my mask on and used it to apply pressure until inside the house. Cleaned it with warm water and then left cold water run on it. LoveChild was quiet and watching. Got corn starch on it but it was still bleeding a bit. Got 2 bandaid and cover it as best I could with one hand and them opened a wrapping gauze and cut a piece. Cover it all. Was a bit concerned but Mr. Troyer helped me and assured me that he would be OK. Took him back out and he wanted to walked to try his new toe,lol went around and came back inside and finally got up and settled. We are crazy in love with our animals!
At least dog can sleep by my feet tonight and not under the covers with me to stay warm, lol
Here is the new toe,lol it looks crazy but he is not bleeding!
