Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I really need to get any greens/peas I want to grow in the ground (already!). So far, it's just the potatoes, and the starts in the green house.

The icky cold weather last week made me want to do other things.

2 weeks to bees, and about 17 days to chicks. I'd really like to have the coop addition done before the chicks get here. I'm planning to brood them inside, so in reality, I have a few more weeks.

We need warm enough days to paint outside. I was able to paint the bee hive boxes inside, but can't do that with half a sheet of 4x8. If it's not warm enough out side, it's not warm enough in the garage either.

I took the sling off last night. That made sleeping much easier. I was able to remove the dressing today. It was so bulky that I thought I was wearing football shoulder pads.
I worked today without the sling. My co-workers picked up my slack for the heavy items. I probably should have worn the sling. I'll use it tomorrow though.

Wild turkey have been coming to the yard several times a day. They seem to realize that this is a safe haven for them. The tom has been chasing the hens and not winning over the ladies. It makes for entertaining episodes. I'm guessing that within a week or 2 the hens will be nesting and I won't see them for a while.

I'm getting a lot of eggs. I have 8 dozen on the table, 2 dozen on the stove, and 2 dozen boiled. Not too shabby for a flock of 3 and 4 year old hens.

I put 15 eggs in a waterglass solution in the basement a few days ago. They ladies are going gangbusters, and I wonder if that means they will slow down in August/September?

I'm hoping the chicks will be laying by November.

Totally off topic but painting a bathtub is a terrible option. I thought it would not be repairable and expected to just accept the other color in ever bigger splotches as it wore away. I didn't know it would become uncleanable too. It won't work to just accept the hit and get it redone. Besides being horribly expensive to have it professionally done, it will then last only 5 to 7 years and can only be done about twice. I didn't try to tell if it has already been tried twice. I might consider doing it myself if it was the first time (as in the work itself part of it - not whether it is a good idea.) There is no way I will try redoing it over the cracked, chipped, worn mess. I don't think I can remove the mess either.

Painting a kitchen countertop is not a good option but at least that can be fixed without too much pain.

Sorry you have this bathtub mess! That's what I heard years ago. Hate to see it promoted on those fun HGTV home remodeling shows.
Must clean the coop out today! Our Cackle chicks from 12 April need to move out there, the brooder is getting small for them. And I'm not sure what some of them are, except likely not the Wyandottes we ordered. And they sure can eat!

I've been hit with chicken math. Except that it isn't chickens that I'm collecting. I guess you could call it car math. :)
