Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

It's not fun thats for sure lol I have a good bruise from it.

We finally got a two egg day. I'm guessing our buff orpington Lemon Pepper since shes been squatting like crazy for two weeks. We have a rooster but I still like giving her feathers a little ruffle on her back because she was one of the ones who wouldnt come anywhere near me as a chick.

It was very windy here today. Atleast the wind make it a okay and not so sufferable time walking down to our garden. My moms acorn squash lost the battle with squash beetles again this year.

Remember many years ago when I weaned an orphaned skunk? Well, I now get to try saving 3 orphaned opossums.
One rehabber is full up and can't take any more. She referred me to another who hasn't replied yet.

I got one feeding into them but it is rather difficult. My arthritis makes it hard to hold and insert eyedropper on the little wigglers. My hands are pretty shaky too.

I'll give them my best efforts and hope a real rehabber can take them in.

ETA Midnight feeding done. All 3 pooped on me so it seems that I'm getting some milk into them. :fl

Staying home!
Tornado warning tonight, apparently one north of us in the Perry area. UGH! All is fine here. Many short power outages, and foulups with the internet, and this site, but seems fine now. Love to watch thunderstorms, not tornadoes!!!
Bugs in the chicken scratch bin! Look like lice, more oval in shape, light colored, and move pretty fast. We've neve had grain mites, and pictures look oval but 'shorter', closer to round than the little critters I found this morning. Added permethrin dust to the can, contents, and area around it. Tomorrow the whole thing is going to be dumped far from the chickens, sprayed, and nothing added until it's sprayed again, and clean!
It's just ONE MORE THING to deal with...

Pic of a funnel near Jackson on a weather site last night.

Grain mites are almost invisible to the naked eye, look like moving white specks.

We did have a tornado just north of us, right through Perry. And we need to redo our emergency plan, didn't work well during this event. DH didn't want to move, and dithering during this was not good...
And I think the little invaders in our scratch container are lice of some sort. :sick Not an improvement! Are grain mites similar in size to poultry mites? These critters are much bigger.
