Yep, I'm that lazy chicken keeper. I also put an extra bag of shavings in the coop, which is where they are all hanging out today. I should've gotten them a flock block so they aren't super bored in there. Next time, I guess.

Yep. I'm a bit worried about the negative temps we have coming. I'm not as worried about the snow/wind because of my wind shields and my run stays dry and snow-free. It's the cold that makes me nervous. I still have one hen who is molting and her feathers aren't all the way in yet.

I too am worrying about the temps. My one girl is still molting as well. She's looking better but still has a ways to go. They get warm mash for supper and breakfast. Mine are still coming out and hanging out under their coop.

All I can do is hope for the best with this storm. Our run is a disaster. Out of everything the snow had to come in from the only fully uncovered side. Needless to say our chickens sure didn't seem to come out much. The geese did not care though. I checked on them a couple extra times compared to normal and because the wind was coming from the east which is the uncovered part of the run and with the wind being over 10 mph I decided to lock them up.

My biggest worry is the girls still not recovered from molt. Two of them both my favorites still have some missing spots.

I would say we got about 5 inches here, although it's hard to tell because it fell sideways mostly due to the ferocious winds. The chickens are shut in until I can get the roof rake in the pen and clean the snow up a little. 14° out right now, so they're perfectly happy to be in.

I turned the backyard light on and was watching the snow whipping around in the blizzard winds when I noticed these two little guys gamely having dinner

All our birds survived the night. Our coop door tried freezing shut on me x.x but I got it open despite our gander hissing up a storm at me lol. our Female goose and one chicken came out to eat. Most of them seemed fine but the runt hunching up every chance she got so I'm sure shes colder than the others. She was moving around though.

Also thankfully my fear wasnt recognised the snow seems more powdery than wet and thick so the netting over the extension was holding up well as last time it snowed it was sagging from heavy wet snow gathering. But there is about 2 inches of snow in our run with a roof x.x All from that east side not being covered. Next year definately need to cover it better.
