Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Yesterday, I ordered some tea bags and thought they'd be coming USPS, but no, they're coming UPS. Crap. To arrive Tuesday, and I hope our driveway will have melted down to the dirt and not refrozen into sheets of ice.

Hubby ordered a refurb laptop and CD player on November 20. It still hasn't shipped yet. Also, oddly enough, to arrive next Tuesday. We'll see which actually makes it.

Finally the snow is melting. A few girls got courageous and came to my kitchen door but ran back in once they got hit by the wind, 😆 🤣
At least I still have most of my marvels. I bet some of you already lost them all! 🥰😇 Screenshot_20241207_224633_Chrome.jpg

Oh, my! Wow. I just helped my son and his wife move into the house they just bought.

The previous owner was ... interesting. He'd lived here for 47 years. By himself, I'm pretty sure, for at least most of it. He took what he wanted at his new place at an assisted living complex and left the rest (that was arranged as part of the sale - sort of, it morphed a bit from "come pick out anything you might want except the things marked as going with him". Since the only help he had in moving were two quite elderly ladies, he left nearly everything.

The house is the ultimate time capsule as far trim, furniture, wall decor. The kids and their friends got quite the lesson in seventies' era things. I may say more about that later.

But, he updated what he cared about. And he got the very best.

The bathroom sinks are corian ... the best kind - with the seamless sink/counter top. And matches the tub surround!!!! Yes, the tub surround is corian!!!! With corian towel rod opposite the shower head and corian shampoo/soap holder (I didn't know they'de ever made such things). In both the master bath and the main bath.

The rest of the showers are up to that standard - shower doors are trackless glass (I'm not sure of the terminology but they are, like, hang from the top, barn door style, with a single splash guard on the outside of the bottom. And stainless steel grab bars that match the shower door hardware (and all other hardware in the bathroom) in style as well as finish.

Squeegeeing down the walls was interesting. The house came with the squeegee very nicely suction cupped to a shower wall. It was sooo easy! It was not much like running a sqeegee down plastic walls or (much worse) tile walls. The walls were soooo smooth, so polished - one swipe got ALL the water off with not a single streak of water left behind.

Oh! And each bathroom, like every other room, came with a candle and a lighter beside it. A high-tech lighter. I'm not sure which decade the lighters came from but ds didn't recognize it as a lighter. He noticed the one in the bathroom at some point and wondered which of their friends/co-workers/etc was vaping in his bathroom in the middle of moving.

And let me tell you about the other most importand fixture in the bathroom.

I do know what a bidet is. Both bathrooms were so equipped. Do they usually come with a motion-sensor automatic lid lifter? These have that.

Dd tried out the bathroom first. She said she knew about the bidet option, and the lid lifting. But didn't expect the heated seat!

I didn't try out the bathroom until everyone here had gone to bed and the house was dark. I thought I knew what all to expect. Nope, not all of it. I was not expecting the toilets to be lighted. They have a nice, very gentle, bluish glow from somewhere down inside.
