Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Everyone is welcome here, and I don't think anyone said they are not.  Someone gave an opinion, and it's just that.  No need to get the hackles up in air.   We know first impressions are just that.  Often times we find out what a wonderful person he/she turned out to be.  There are good and bad in all walks of life.  Please, let's not get this thread banned again.  We've met so many wonderful people on this thread, and I hope to meet more at the next Chickenstock.

X2!

One of my turkeys laid her first egg today!!! And I saw a bluebird the other day, and my friend saw a robin yesterday! Spring is really on its way! :yesss:

I got me some little chickies!!!! My hen hatched three eggs so far, boy she is a good mommy. So I went to TSC I know, I know I was told to stay away from there, so I came home with six chicks EE's and put them under my broodie and she was fine with them. She still is sitting on three eggs I wish they would hurry up. I was getting the babies out to show them where the water was because I figured the babies that I bought already have been eating and drinking and needed to boy that was a mistake my hen would not stay put on her nest she was mad! She wanted the babies back, I thought she was going to stomp them to death trying to get them back with her so I put them back in the nest of course they didn't want to stay there now, they are so fast! All has settled down now. I put a heat lamp out where the food and water is so it will warm up so they can get out. I wish she was not so big, JG, she takes up so much room. I have them in a rabbit hutch which is pretty big for a regular chicken, she's a big girl. I will have to take pic's whenever she lets the little's out from under her.

Congrats on the new ones both hatched at home and from TSC!

There is a reason that chain saws have small fuel tanks. After about 45 minutes of cutting green hardwood you are ready for a break. And you come in and play with the week-old chickies.

That's the kind of stress relief that I like!

My wonderful husband brought these girls home for my daughter's birthday; our first ducks, should be fun! Crazy, thoughtful, tattooed man!!!!

We heat our house with wood, so about this time of year, I'm sick of it. lol...
We heat with wood too (outdoor boiler). Husband turned the in-floor heat in the basement on in January and we went through a LOT more wood. We've got about 10 face-cord left, and are hoping that it gets us through until we don't *need* to heat the house. Should be down to about 1 face-cord a week (or less) now that we turned the floor off. Poor guy is already dreading cutting next winter's wood. Nice thing for us is that our 7 year old LOVES to help with firewood. He'll run the splitter for you (supervised of course)....all you have to do is put the wood up there, and he'll do the rest. Give him a dollar when you're done and he's more than happy to help whenever he's asked.

I'm happy to cut, split and stack wood all day. But I admit it is more fun when you have someone to either help or at least watch you work.
