Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

He's pretty wild..... I'm also concerned about him being a pest to the neighbors and with the noise.... ugh! Bad timing! LOL!

They have some in the city of GR N.E. near the golf course on Knapp and Plainfield. The neighbors all have yard ornaments with Pea-cocks on them, and don't seem to mind, They are so pretty how can you object??....

I know that several of you in the mid-Michigan area have wrote about family members who have rabbits. My sister in Charlotte needs a home ASAP for a male Miniature Velveteen Rex rabbit, age 4. The rabbit was originally my mom's before she went into Hospice care. Bun-Bun is free to a new home and comes with a cage. He has been kept in the house his entire life (first with my mom, then with my adult nephew and now at my sister's). He is a very nice rabbit. Let me know it you would like him and I'll help you make arrangements with my sister for a pickup. You can send me an email at [email protected]. Thanks.
very sweet, reminds me of the Dutch bunny I had as a child. Hope you can find him a home

At 7:02 the sun will be directly over the equator. The Vernal Equinox. The first day of spring. Yeah, right. Today's forecast cold, windy, single digit wind chills, snow showers. Didn't anyone tell Mother Nature. We are 20 degrees below normal and I'm tired of winter.

The coffee is ready
Then when Granny and I stopped at Hobby Lobby to pick up some craft items for her the cashier asked if I had my card. This has got to stop. Before you know it I am going to need to hire someone just to help me lift my wallet.
For Sure!!!... I have a couple on my key chain.
Thanks for reminding us it is SPRING ...kind of forgot , with all this snow,

Good morning Michigan, Sorry to hear about all the bad weather! I am down in southern Florida for a little trip. I will spare you all the weather report. My friend back home who does chores when I am gone (she keeps her horses at my place) says every time I come down here there is a big winter storm, so it is probably my fault that you are all having snow.

It is so frustrating to have to deal with people who don't seem to want to know about the person they are supposed to helping, and instead just try to save their company money by delaying or declining service. We just want his leg fixed - he is understandably anxious that this injury may keep him from his work. Jerks.
You must have sent the sun today, cold and snowy but the sun helps. 17 when I took my grandson to meet his ride for work,

pretty sad that you have to be a B---H to get treatment that you need to day, I fear it will only get worse

lost a hen last week just a small pile of feathers under a bush, ...what ever it was ,was large enough to carry away a good size hen, DH figures either coyote or eagle. haven't seen sigh of either since

Of all the old birds I have out their that are not laying any more it takes a good layer, never fails

Quick question: Does anyone here have any experience with Armada Grain Company's Country Cat & City Cat food? They're a local company in Macomb Co. apparently and I picked up a bag of their cat food in Muskegon last week at the FFH. My house cats won't touch it, which is rare but not unheard of with a new brand. But the kicker is that my barn cats won't eat it either and they eat ANYTHING. They all sniffed it and turned on me with dirty looks this morning. I thought they were planning to eat me. So I'm wondering what's up with that and if anyone else has ever had an issue with it. I contacted the company and waiting to hear back.

I was just trying to support a MI business.

I use their chicken and goat feeds with no issues. Did you read the ingredient list and compare it to what your cats had been eating? I would recommend mixing the new food with the old for a while. Say 1/3 new to 2/3 old for the first couple of days, then go up to 50/50 for a couple of days and so on.

The coffee is ready so grab yourself a cup and we can all sit here and grumble about the things we can't do anything about. Maybe after a cup or two and the sun makes it appearance we can talk about how lucky were are to be able to do all that we can.

Has anyone besides me noticed that their wallet is getting thicker? Mine certainly is and not with money. Saturday's mail included correspondence from the Department of Veteran Affairs that included an ID card. While beneficial, it's one more piece of plastic I need to carry. Seems like I am constantly adding a new card to those I need to carry. Drivers license, fire department retirees card, Blue Cross card, Social Security card, Medicade care, Conceal Carry card, library card, bank ATM card, Master Card, the list continues to grow. In order to get the best possible pricing stores are now issuing cards. Costco, Speedy rewards gas card with it accompanying prepaid gas card. Walgreens, CVS, Rite-Aid all want you to present a card or pay more if you don't have it. I even was asked if I had a rewards card when I went to Menards last Friday. Then when Granny and I stopped at Hobby Lobby to pick up some craft items for her the cashier asked if I had my card. This has got to stop. Before you know it I am going to need to hire someone just to help me lift my wallet.

I know what you mean about the store cards! First, it annoys me that I need to be part of their "special club" to get good deals - just give me the deals darn it! What I have found however, is that most places you can just use your phone number instead of having to carry a card around. You basically enter your phone number in the to credit card swipe machine and it recognized your account. Must better than having a key ring full of little tabs or a wallet full of cards.

I have been dealing with a major sciatica issue for the last two days...what a pain (literally!).

Saw this and thought it was pretty accurate!

Careful what you wish for. Next time they will want to insert a chip they can scan! LOL I hear you. My wallet is full of plastic (not credit cards) and my keychain is bedecked with plastic swipe cards.
I have had two cups of coffee and am still not at full speed. It's 10 am already!

HAPPY SPRING!!! Been a bit over 3 hours now. Sun is shining here in northeast MI's LP. and it's 26.6 degrees and slowly rising. If it wasn't for Monday's 4 inches of fluffy snow I'd be seeing the mud in the driveway that had appeared. Ah well. Hopefully more will be melted by April.

And on a chicken note, I got 15 eggs two days ago. 9 yesterday, often 12. They're heading into full laying mode now.

Yesterday's forecast had us under a weather advisory with a possible 2" of snow. Sometime during the day, it was upgraded to a watch. Wind was blowing all day long and the snow which had started Monday evening continued to fall faster and faster throughout the day until about 7 pm. It has started to snow again, and the forecast is saying another 2-5" through tomorrow morning.

This morning the local weatherman reported that we had a total of 9". I would disagree. My tall muck boots that reach just up to my knee (about 14") was just about the level of the new snow.

Note the trash can in the foreground and the split rail fence behind.

See the section of snow fencing on the far right?

Inside the covered run.

I still needed to shovel a space for them under their roof, about 8" under the roof
covering their feed dishes.

Doesn't really feel very much like spring. Told my DS last night
that we should go pick out a Christmas tree and put up some lights.
Might as well go with it, ya know? "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em!"

Nah....
14 eggs yesterday, even with a broody... so I guess it's just
winter doing it's best trying to hold on.

Is anyone else worried about not having a long enough growing season this year?
20 below normal makes me wonder when we WILL be able to plant..

Happy First Day of Spring, May the weather start warming.

DD and i candled the eggs we set in the bator on 3/4.. 12 out of 25 were fertile and developing, the others nonfertile.. not even viening.. we cooked and fed them to the chickens.
we have seen movement, so dd and i are pretty excited. lockdown is friday.

I think i may go buy a dozen or 2 of fresh farm eggs that may be fertile to set after these hatch. i have some that i know for sure are fertile on counter right now waiting to go into bator.

Have a great day everyone. and stay warm.

ps i think i am all set, have brooder light, pine shaving, straw. extra paper, red bulbs. chick feed. big box. water protector. thermometer..
