Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I had a chick hatch under my broodie and I thought it was dead and went to reach in to pick it up because I saw something black way back in the nest and sort of moved it and got side tracked by something esle, well it turned out to be a chick I know it was just laying there dead looking but anyway it finally was moving around but strangely sort of hopping for a few days then finally started to walk after 4 days. Its ok now but still is smaller.
this gives me hope, its pooping, i am going to holding off the cull to see if it gains some more strength to walk.. i have to, because its would be in the back of my mind did i cull to soon.. what if it need a couple day and will be fine.. keeping my fingers crossed..

My poor little chick would get knocked over by the big JG hen or would get ran over by the other chicks I need a picture.

Anybody interested in a serama roo or two? I have 8 roos and 11 hens. Not a very good ratio! I would like to get rid of 2 or three roosters. If anyone has any interest I will post some pics.

Just a short break from chores in the 55 degree sunshine.

Got some firewood stacked and a pile of sawchips raked up for the chicken run. Made a few minor repairs to some damaged equipment.

But the funny thing was working in the coop to make room for the ducklings. I was removing some shelving from directly above the floor nest with Lemon and Breaded sitting together to lay. Neither hen moved much while I dismantled the furniture. So I guess that when a hen has to lay, a hen has to lay.

A little snow melted while I was at work. Just got home and candled my eggs - 21 out of 21 are wiggling around and doing great! That means Baby's baby is doing fine so far :) We've removed 4 clears and are on day 13. Would've waited til tomorrow but it'll be a busy day with Easter.

I smelled like smoke earlier. Today I got to set fire to several acres of UofM property.

That really sounds like fun, how do they burn a section off? I have areas I would like to burn, but not sure how to go about it.
When I told my husband all that I had planned for today, he went back to bed! LOL I'm planning on pruning and spraying the apple tree tomorrow, sometime between church and Easter dinner. I better get a move on. So much to do and I am burying a friend from church at 11 am today. Rest well Chuck, your fight was long and hard. I know God is holding him now in his loving arms.
sorry about your friend hope his family are doing OK did he have cancer?

our ground is still frozen also, most of the snow is gone, we have CROCUS blooming, little lavender ones, so pretty!

got lots of work done, today, dismantled a coop off of one of the tractors, now I have to put it back together in the breeding area. Got about 5 good loads of old stinky hay out of the run, will need to get more out after it thaws a little more

Got some messy bottoms running around here again, to cold yet to wash them, not sure of the cause???

here is a picture my only survivor..
earlier when my dd went to check on it, it was kinda standing.. and one foot was curled under so i taped it.. and this was right after.. looks like there may be hope.. hard to get a good picture when he still cant stand good, but this is the best he has done since birth..

There is a science to these burns. Several factors such as temperature, humidity and of course, wind direction. You also need a bit of safety equipment.

My crocus just popped today as well.

New coop configuration for me today. I had to make room for the duckies to go out. Little buggers are no longer little and they need more space. It might be a bit early for them (4-5 weeks old) but they are feathered and the coop is draft-free. The heat lamp is properly secured. I think that they will be fine and appreciate the larger space.

What a great day to be working outside, eh?
