Amy..... adoarable cake!!!

minniefarm, these are the days you have to make yourself do things. I find taking a walk gets the blood going and more energetic for the rest of the day! Just about ready to take my dogs for a walk. Cloudy and gloomy here, also. The wind is not bad. Suppose to rain for the next few days, so the dogs definitely need to be walked today!!
Enjoy your day... stop and listen to all the bird songs! Who needs an ipod??

Thanks so much for telling about the Alpena lot swap!!!! Only about an hour from me! WHAT TIME does it begin????

where do you live, i am about 1 hr south of alpena, call them and double check the date.. the paper was hanging by the chicks.. that way you know for sure.. i may go to it also..plus it had a phone number on the sheet if you want to have a table there.

We had a swap meet here in New Haven at TSC today (well, it's technically still going but when i drove by about 30 min ago it looked like folks were already clearing out)

I went right at 10:00 and browsed but didn't buy anything except for some cookies from a fund raiser. There were some guineas and I stood there for a while and thought about it but managed to get away. DH would have killed me if I brought anything home. He doesn't seem too thrilled about the eggs waiting to go into the incubator tomorrow for the Cinco de Mayo hatchalong. This morning he says "Don't drown us in birds please."

I promised that once this batch was done I wouldn't hatch anything more until next year. He made me picky swear, so I guess I have to obey

cuppycake i will be setting eggs tomorrow or the next day and so will maah be setting soon.. we can all hatch together.

today i am caliberating my hygrometer to get a feel how much its off.
dd and i went out to buy some roadside eggs.. and i have 1 doz barnyard mix from one house, has green, pink,brown,white eggs in the carton.. and the other dozen is from another house. they have 8 lavender orphingtons in with 3 lavender orpington roos.. i stopped in there friday to see if they had eggs and ask if they could save some special ones for me... i only got 11 from them but fresh,unwashed,non refrigerated..actually pick 5 of them fresh out of the nest box while we were there. so hoping they hatch..they were gorgeous hens and rooster. I will be keeping these ones for sure.

Are you just doing chickens or turkeys too? I'm doing both. For turkeys I'll have golden palms, blue slates, and black spanish. For chickens I'm doing BLRWs and some barnyard mixes, mommas are red stars but I'm not sure about the dad(s)

I'll be doing olive eggers soon. They're supposed to be shipped on Monday, so I'm hoping to set by Thursday. The eggs are coming from Ohio, so at least they don't have far to go. Though you never know with the PO.

An update for those of you who remember, 10 days ago my favorite little hen was killed by a raccoon - her egg just hatched! looks just like her.
