Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

An update for those of you who remember, 10 days ago my favorite little hen was killed by a raccoon - her egg just hatched!

looks just like her.

Sorry for your loss, but congrats on the new little baby!

Wrightsx4 - yay Here's hoping you got a girl just like the one you lost.

I haven't been wasting my day as I thought I might. I cleaned out the brooder and doubled the size. Now they have two ex large dog crates to play in. They are so funny, running back and forth and bumping for top hen.

I loaded up the last of our wood to be split. It better get warmer. We won't have time to resupply until June!

We moved our chicks to their coop, heat lamp, lots if pine shavings and a poop board! Only problem is our dog wants to stay with them.

Are you just doing chickens or turkeys too? I'm doing both. For turkeys I'll have golden palms, blue slates, and black spanish. For chickens I'm doing BLRWs and some barnyard mixes, mommas are red stars but I'm not sure about the dad(s)
I am doing chickens, i am just learning. only had one hatch out of a dozen fertile eggs last time. kinda know what i did wrong.. temp to low for my incubator.
have to get this downpat b4 i try something else.. good luck with your hatch.

We had an exciting afternoon,, I went out about 3 and dumped the ash bucket in the garden(last nights ashes) not much in there (I thought) the lovely wind fanned the few coals that were left and started the side yard on fire. Hose of course is locked in the barn. got started so fast, I called the fire dept. right away and was glad I did. spread over almost a1/2 acre before we got it out.
no harm done but it sure spread fast. Very glad I didn't wait to see if I could get it out alone before calling the fire dept.
