Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

GOOD LUCK, RaZ!

Good to see you, Sam! Don't think you can catch any fish in this weather. All the rivers and creeks are overflowing here, too.

Very wet out there.

Someone dumped a pit bull on our street and was hanging around Krisrose's place. We tried to get close to it, but it's really fearful of humans. It is not aggressive towards us or other animals. Unfortunately I think the storm scared it away. A neighbor gave us a number for a rescue, so hoping the dog will come back and we can get him taken care of. Poor thing. Why do people think they can dump their animals in the country??

First a "drive by goosing" and now a "drive by pit bulling". I must have a sign that says "SUCKER" on it at end of driveway

The incubator this morning...

Already in the brooder...

My chicks hatched from the silkie eggs I picked up while visiting my family in NC....

I don't have a problem...(remember first stage is denial!)

You haven't seen that sign yet?? It's there in plain sight.

Use to be my house in Lansing. Every stray found it's way to my house... or was it the 4 kids bringing animals home and telling me they were strays?

I'm going to be right there with you soon! Look at the crests (or whatever you call them on silkies) those little peepers have! Wowza!

A question about cooking: I'm picking up my 2 roos from the processor today. I understand that the meat should rest before we cook it.....can it "rest" in brine? I love the flavor of my turkey brine recipe, and have used it on grocery store chickens quite a few times....these boys were about 7mo old, so I'm thinking that brining and slow roasting will be the way to go about this.....

krisrose you have the invisable sign.. probably same people.. lol

jenny - chicks are adorable, i think i will be saying your words soon, when i get this incubating thing down pat. what kind of bator do you use. i set my second time around eggs 2 days ago.. and already thinking what i want to put in there when these are done..

the processed roos can be brined. how old are they..

Thanks Fancy for the offer but she was out running around when I went back out this afternoon... I do know of a couple of trailers for sale depending on price range. The ones I know of are between $3500 and $4500 though. I wish I had the money for one of them... Would be nice to have something a little lighter than our heavy steel one :)
