Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Well, I don't think it is an official gov't vehicle since the lic plate says "Unit 3" rather than a govt use plate...I am gonna go with Ghost Busters....Since it has the gas mask, but then again with the machine gun sticker in the back window, we might be closer if we thought it was a militia group preparing for the downfall of the US Govt....Who ever it is, has too much extra time and money LOL

Nice photo Opa! Glad you had a great day!

I just checked, it's still soft and what I didn't realize before is that whoever skinned it, took the carcass out of the head, leaving the belly intact. Starting to have a smell about it though.

You could turn it inside out... it may be fresh... not tanned.
I just did the 2nd scraping on mine and I resalted it. It is amazing how rough you can be on the pelt without it ripping. I was being too gentle the first time around and left a lot of the fat... Well I think it will be done drying in a few more days.

Morning everybody- I'm enjoying my first coffee of the day while catching up on what's going on. I vote for Zombies

You can buy those decals. I don't know if people who prepare themselves for a so-called zombie apocalypse are serious or not. My guess is that's the way they like it.

if it smells, it's no good....... toss it!

Posted this earlier but it disappeared into cyberspace.
Based on last night's weather report I awoke this morning expecting fog. David and I were going steelhead fishing on the Huron river at Flatrock and I was dreading the drive based on the forecast. It was, however, perfectly clear until we had passed Metro Airport. From there, and for the rest of the day, we were in fog.

We were fishing by 730 and visibility was only about 100' and it only got marginally better as the day progressed. Just before reaching the tailout of our first run, David hooked a huge fish. Three spectacular jumps and twice it circled the boat. Just as he brought within netting distance it rolled and was off. It appeared to have been well over 10 pounds. Upon inspection of the "lucky" lure he found that 2 barbs from the treble hook had snapped off.

We were fishing with Kwikfish and Hotshot lures using a technique called "dropback fishing" and again as we neared the tailout of the next run a steelhead struck. It ran and short distance downstream without the aerial acrobatics of its predessor. It turned back upstream and briefly Dave thought he had lost it. The smile on his face as I lifted the net from the water was priceless.

With the cloud cover and fog I had thought we were in for a great day however the one 4 pounder was the only fish for the day. Still any day I can spend with one of my sons is a wonderful day.
Awesome fish,(oops, meant - even better that you had an awesome day with your son) better than awesome day with your son! Even a bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work!

This was taken in MI by a friend of mine, no one knows what is going on?
My vote is not real. The real guys don't want to be seen... you know black suburbans.

If only more people had this attitude! Foggy river, I'm just thinking how good it must have sounded and smelled.

I spent yesterday cleaning outside. That last wind storm and snow took stuff everywhere. Since the snow left on Sunday you can now see everything. After picking up the yard, field, woods. I cleaned the chicken coop and yard and washed the cement apron down. The chickens were loving the dryer weather and where out sand bathing all over the place. We didn't have school yesterday so my son spent about 4+ hours cutting sticks and constructing a chicken "hideout" he has insisted I post pictures and I will but they aren't downloaded now. I asked him what if the chickens don't end up using it? He says "then I'll have fun smashing it". Kids! We ended our day by going and cutting a tree. This is not a farmed tree. A local guy opens up his property. You go in find a tree cut it and it's $15. So we have a natural tree in all of it's .... well not beauty but hopefully it will be after it's decorated.

I spent my day cleaning out the wet wood chips and stuff out of my coop because my 5 gallon waterer spilled water all over the edge due to it not being level. I was wondering why they were drinking so much water. Now today my arms hurt, so out of shape. Then found out my son's coop I brought over here was leaking and had to get all the straw out of there then put in new wood chips. I guess the coop needs a new roof. But I do love my chickens.
