Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Before "I" forget again, I got Bella's blood test results last week Friday regarding to see if she is pregnant or not.

She is due on August 10th for her 2nd calf. That is a long ways to wait. :( BUT, time flies! :D

Today I decided to get ready for the influx of new toys by going through all the toys and deciding if they were keepers, donatable, or just plain garbage. With two boys, you can guess the condition of some of the toys. Well... I finished cleaning up/sorting toys for donations and trash... I went out to dump the garbage toys and bring up the trash bins. I set down the bucket that the garbage toys were in after dumping and went to go and let the birds out. I was heading back in the door empty handed when I remembered the toy bucket. MAN! I turned around just in time to see a hawk swoop down and attack! All I got to do was yell hey! And it took off, the chickens ran in the garage, under the jeep, in the bush. I was able to get the ones from under the jeep in the garage easy, then went back to shut the birds that were still in the run in, and they were hiding! AND then went back to the bush and got my golden campine and my silkie mutt to move it to the garage. All chickens are fine. I don't know which one got hit. I can't find Ekta, but she is the best darn hider too. SO, I know she's in the garage, cuz the hawk was in the tree watching me put every one away. GAH!!! I can't stand outside and baby sit them right now... SO, I have 25 birds in my garage... Ah... hello... Two of those never shut up either...

That's wonderful news!!!

Congratulations!!!!

Not to be a buzz kill....but....I have a question. I am going to order 6 or 8 Blue Laced Red Wyandotte's, and they only sell them straight run through McMurray...So to save on shipping I am adding them to my 25 chick order...My question is...I don't want any roosters....so...do you think I should hold onto them until ChickenStock so I can do some wheeling and dealing with them....or would one(or a few) of you like the roosters I get? Either way doesn't matter to me. I'm just trying to see if there's any interest in them.

Feel so bad for the families in Connecticut.....
I just can't understand how a madman can look into all those innocent faces and heartlessly kill them!! My heart is breaking for all those families that lost a child and the teachers that tried to protect them. They will be in my prayers.

I use nipple waterers during warm weather. Once the temps start to drop I switch to a metal 5 gallon chicken waterer that I sit on a cookie can heater and use a 60 watt bulb.
