(poop machines is right!)

The hatchery, destiny farms, no, sorry haven't done business with them before.... hopefully some one can offer insight.

Farmer congrats on the piglets they're adorable!!

I talked to a guy at TSC today that has potbellies coming in a few weeks. 30$. I gave him my number to call me when they arrive. I will post the info on here as well if they look good.

Sam where'd you go off too now?

That makes me feel better, kinda sad.. but i have to follow my gut instinct.. beleive me i have been holding off a while.. i guess i thought there would be hope..

as long as you've weighed out the possibilities, and done what you can for her. Don't feel bad for doing the right thing if she's not going to make it. I have a chick that just hatched... I think I'll have to cull too. So not fair sometimes. Good luck!

Update on my hen, i call her old lady.. brought her in last night.. this morning i brought newpaper to put her food and water on so she doesnt poo on floor, I put instant potato, little layer mash, some cat food, a few left over tortilla chips small pieces, fine crushed egg shell, some boss and poured milk in it and let it set and left it a little runny.so she would hydrate from that also. fed her some, then took her out with the rest. one of the other hens thats been picking on her pounces on her back and was pulling up on the feathers of the back of her neck, i grabbed the mean hen and put her in a crate for a while.. put some acv in the water this am.. she is eating and drinking fine, her comb is reddening more.. so i think that is a good sign.. i also put some de in the feeder in the coop, and cayenne in their food for the worming and also to make her drink more i read that somewhere here or other sites..atleast till i can get to tractor supply and spread de in the coop and nest boxes.
her poop looks good.. looks like everyone else.. she ate alot and drank alot this am.. not moving alot yet. i put her back in the coop with water and some wet food by her, she is eating and drinking.. more then in the last day or so.. so we will see how she does.. I dont want to keep her inside and away from the others, we have to go away this weekend for a funeral so she will have to stay out there with them.. i have no other choices. I will bring her in again tonight at bedtime though.. that way she can get good rest atleast. i will go back and check on them in a little bit.. i may have to put the mean one in the crate if she is picking on her still.. thank you everyone for the advice..

I still think it's the meanie doing it. When mine got picked on it took more like a week to get right again. If the comb was darkening due to dehydration it will take however long she was dehydrated to be back to normal; a day of it means a day of getting better and so on. Unless you are attached to the meanie regardless of whether or not you cull the weak hen i would still consider getting rid of that particular hen; jumping on another hen's back is pretty extreme and i personally would not tolerate it; it is possible that IF this is caused by the hen and not a sickness that the removal of the weak hen will just mean that whoever is bottom when she's gone will get picked on in her place. Meanie will also be an issue if you decide to add to your flock this spring, too.

I do think removing the mean one instead is a great idea, seems like someone on here did it to "reform" a mean hen before. ?? It would also give the other hens a break! Do you have a rooster? Sometimes if there is no rooster a dominant hen will act as the rooster? Just trying to throw ideas out there, i hate to see them be put down, so i try to come up with ideas. If she does, than you will have the comfort of knowing you have done all you could. I have had to have them put down too, and it sucks. Having peace about it don't make it better per say but it helps.
