Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

My bees and honey are part of the commercial operation. As such I should have protection under state law. The prosecutor is trying several tricks to gain a win.
I'll be in court tomorrow, supporting another citizen's operation. It is crazy down here.

Trying to come up with an inexpensive way to cut down the wind in the run and possibly provide a little bit of shade in the summer months.

Would snow fence (the super ugly orange kind) do any of that? I can get a 4x100 roll of it for about $35, and it would be pretty easy to install. Thoughts?

Well, the storm is here. First it rained, then sleet, then flurries, and now a full blown snowstorm is underway! :weee It will be a joy driving to work and back home this evening.

I finally have a broody!!! :woot A showgirl that I hatched from RIRJen! She is sitting on some bantie mutt eggs. It will be interesting to see what the chicks will look like when they hatch out.

My silkie chicks hatched yesterday! Yahoo! Three hatched out of five eggs, and they all look good. No apparent leg weaknesses or deformities. All have nice black skin, decent foot feathering, and 5 toes. Now if they all end up pullets, that'd be great.

Our silkie hen has been broody for 4 weeks!! She's driving me crazy and hogging the breeding pen all while not producing any eggs. I hope she cuts it out soon.
...

I also bought some new chickies from Family Farm & Home to add to my laying flock. Since we'll be retiring 4 (2yr old) hens this year.... we bought 6 more, and still plan on buying a 7th. And we'll be hatching out a few from our flock as well. Hmm... not sure how the math works out on this (replacing 4 with 7+), but I'm sure DH was planning on expanding the coop & run this year. Again. If he wasn't, he has probably clued in by now. I gotta say though, I love the little light brahma pullets we just bought. They are the sweetest little chicks we've had! I should have known they would be... even our brahma rooster is the gentlest roo we've ever had.
OOOH, so pretty
I had to go to TSC on Sunday for dog food. All they had were week old assorted Bantys and some ducks. This week some time the rest will come in. I am still waivering between getting chicks and started Pullets.

My husband is VERY slowly warming to the idea! Last weekend he asked me about my coop plans and said that I better build a little bigger one so that we don't have to expand again in a year LOL
A realist! That's great.

Congratulations!
It started snowing here a little after 4;30 and is really coming down now. The weatherman may have been right this time, we'll see.
