Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Thanks for the kindness... I don't hold to many friends, and those I do have, I hold close. He was one of those teachers that had an impact on my life, but he was also a friend.

So at the end of the day yesterday my SIL calls and says come n get it!

so I did.

He looks like a indian blue peacock. He had a full tail growing but he lost most of it in the ruckus with us trying to catch him. He's been a pest stray that's been eating their chicken food they finally trapped him in the coop last night and they don't want him. I am not sure if I want to keep or sell him yet. He is beautiful, and his tail is/was as well. For now he's in quarantine until I decide what to do with him.

How pretty! Maybe you can find him a mate in the area. I know that Peacocks do really well free ranging if you're concerned about a pen once he gets out of quarantine.

He's pretty wild..... I'm also concerned about him being a pest to the neighbors and with the noise.... ugh! Bad timing! LOL!

Silly, I'm very sorry to read about your friend and mentor. Wishing you comfort and peace.

A neighborhood in Grand Rapids has a small handfull of peacocks. It's fun to see them strutting around, but woah, they can be loud!

It must be spring, we had the first tour at MBG today. Witch hazel was blooming and the skunk cabbage are emerging.

Stopped at TSC in Whitmore Lake for supplies and did not even bring home any chicks. Even though they were only a buck each. The sign said that they had Jersey pullets "in the back" but they had no workers on the floor so I simply checked out and came home.

Egg collection resulted in 8 eggs so far and I have a couple of ladies who prefer the afternoon for laying. I'm up to my ears with eggs and my customers have been absent lately.

Exactly the same story here. 7-9 eggs a day and not a single customer! I have 7 doz. eggs in the fridge, waiting. Gonna have to start getting creative.

Ditto... Only one lady shows up lately. She buys 4 dozen at a pop. I guess that's ok, my suppliers are on baby leave... 6 hens... Ah chicks chicks and I almost bought more chicks. FFH had a few silkies... Almost did the evil deed and bought them... Could have stuffed them under the hen whose eggs only hatched last night...

I got creative with mine I made deviled eggs, I made an egg casserole, all kinds of things. Then my husband came home with an order for 3 dozen I went to the chiropractor and got an order for 7 dozen! Why can't they want eggs when I have a refrigerator full?

I know that several of you in the mid-Michigan area have wrote about family members who have rabbits. My sister in Charlotte needs a home ASAP for a male Miniature Velveteen Rex rabbit, age 4. The rabbit was originally my mom's before she went into Hospice care. Bun-Bun is free to a new home and comes with a cage. He has been kept in the house his entire life (first with my mom, then with my adult nephew and now at my sister's). He is a very nice rabbit. Let me know it you would like him and I'll help you make arrangements with my sister for a pickup. You can send me an email at [email protected]. Thanks.

Good luck neighbor, it looks like a wonderful pet for someone.

So I picked up 4 new Chicks today (all Buffs) and thought to myself "I wonder if that Chicken forum is still active.". Boy it's been a dogs age since I've been out here. I hope everyone is well.
