Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

They are doing well. Mudd threatens every day and if I don't push him off he gets me. Brat. I've tried catching him and carrying him around but so far it hasn't helped. I really hope that by summer, when I dress with a lot less padding, he's over it. This morning he made the mistake of going after the turkey's buddy and the turkey chased him across the field. I hope he learned his lesson. But I haven't gotten the impression that he's very quick on the uptake. Thanks for the directional advice.
Bahahaha! The ganders are thick headed.
Homer appears to have settled down in old age. I think he is 3 to 4 years old.

Another day has started and I have just finished having the "breakfast of champions" CAKE. Yesterday Hope made a coconut pound cake and due to a mismarked measuring cup it was lacking enough flour and it came out a little moister than usual. I took a slice of it and toasted it in the toaster oven and it came out incredible making an excellent way to start a morning.

Kimmie, RFP (re-inforced fiberglass panel) is a waterproof wall covering often used in commercial bathrooms. Home Depot carries RFP in the paneling section. It is very easy to cut and a plywood blade on a circular saw works well. One side is smooth and the other has a pebbled surface. For dropping boards install with the smooth side facing up.

In my large fowl coop I have 3 roosts 8' long and made the trays to suspend beneath all three. For a single roost I would recommend a width of 18". I would build a simple four sided frame of 1x2s 18" wide and the length would be 1" less than the length of the roost board. After attaching the RFP to the frame with glue and pan head screws attach a small eye hook in each corner and close the eye after attaching a 12" length of light weight chain. Install a eye hook on the bottom of each end of the roost board. The chains will be attached to these hooks to suspend the assembled board. Hopefully this makes sense but if not contact me and I will try to explain it better.

Sadly, with ever increasing frequency, I am faced with the loss of a friend or former co-worker. Each time I feel my world has become a little smaller but also that my world was a lot better for having known them.

My best friend still lives in the town where I attended high school and was employed as a fireman. He and I talk at least once a week and he keeps me informed on items of mutual interest. Quite often of late the conversation is prefaced with "Do you remember" and he then continues to tell me of the loss of yet another friend. While I know it's coming I dread the day his conversation starts with "Do you remember Sam".
Thanks Sam I actually understood that perfectly! Thank You.

That last part made me sad thinking about you or anyone dying really. I think we were meant to live forever otherwise why are we so afraid of dying?

Morning everyone! Its a snowstorm right now. *sign* Oh! When I will see green again?!?

Sorry for all your losses.

Congrats on any new chicks.

Welcome all newbies!

Now that the my 3 Icelandic chicks are old enough for me to know the gender, they are all females, so who would like to have 3 multicolored pullets? They all have rose comes, a real plus for winter climates. I hatched them in January, so they are feathered out. Asking for $10.00 a piece.

Other than that I don't think that I have news to share. Its been crazy busy here. Have a great day all!

Boy I would love these girls but right now money is the problem, oh well maybe next time. I still don't have my brooder going. I think somehow I will have to buy one.

At 7:02 the sun will be directly over the equator. The Vernal Equinox. The first day of spring. Yeah, right. Today's forecast cold, windy, single digit wind chills, snow showers. Didn't anyone tell Mother Nature. We are 20 degrees below normal and I'm tired of winter.

The coffee is ready so grab yourself a cup and we can all sit here and grumble about the things we can't do anything about. Maybe after a cup or two and the sun makes it appearance we can talk about how lucky were are to be able to do all that we can.

Has anyone besides me noticed that their wallet is getting thicker? Mine certainly is and not with money. Saturday's mail included correspondence from the Department of Veteran Affairs that included an ID card. While beneficial, it's one more piece of plastic I need to carry. Seems like I am constantly adding a new card to those I need to carry. Drivers license, fire department retirees card, Blue Cross card, Social Security card, Medicade care, Conceal Carry card, library card, bank ATM card, Master Card, the list continues to grow. In order to get the best possible pricing stores are now issuing cards. Costco, Speedy rewards gas card with it accompanying prepaid gas card. Walgreens, CVS, Rite-Aid all want you to present a card or pay more if you don't have it. I even was asked if I had a rewards card when I went to Menards last Friday. Then when Granny and I stopped at Hobby Lobby to pick up some craft items for her the cashier asked if I had my card. This has got to stop. Before you know it I am going to need to hire someone just to help me lift my wallet.

Good morning Michigan, Sorry to hear about all the bad weather! I am down in southern Florida for a little trip. I will spare you all the weather report. My friend back home who does chores when I am gone (she keeps her horses at my place) says every time I come down here there is a big winter storm, so it is probably my fault that you are all having snow.

I am actually here because my boyfriend slipped on a job he was on in Alabama and hurt his knee, apparently quitey badly. It has taken a week for the insurance company to approve an MRI, despite a doctor's order. Rather than stay alone in Alabama he was able to drive down here (it is his left leg so he can more or less still drive). After being put off repeatedly for approval for diagnostics - apparently if you are in Alabama you have trouble figuring out that they have MRI machines in other states - yesterday I actually got on the phone with the insurance handler who immediately said "I can't talk to you!!!". I said, you don't have to talk just listen - then went on to describe the injury and that his leg was getting worse, that he could not use it at all, and that he was in a great deal of pain and that they had denied him service for a week while they did an "investigation" and shuffled paperwork. He may have seen the light after reading between the lines where the words "lawsuit for contribution to serious injury and unnecessary pain and suffering" were written, and Surprise! An MRI was scheduled within an hour.

It is so frustrating to have to deal with people who don't seem to want to know about the person they are supposed to helping, and instead just try to save their company money by delaying or declining service. We just want his leg fixed - he is understandably anxious that this injury may keep him from his work. Jerks.

I feel you, Opa! I have no cash in my wallet but I have: drivers license, CPL, military ID, health insurance card, dental card, debit card, credit cards, ATM card, library card, rewards cards for Kroger, toys r us, cvs, petsmart, lowes, commissary... Sigh. At least I carry my purse inside of having to sit on my wallet. Then again, the purse is filled to the brim with everything imaginable too.

Yesterday I was talking to my mom and complaining about winter, but she lives in northern Minnesota and they've got like 2 ft of snow on the ground. So I feel a little better. Haha

Last night we had dinner with friends and when she served our baked chicken breasts I exclaimed "holy hormone city, batman!" I could not believe how big those things were. Sure makes me nervous to eat anything that comes out of the grocery store.
