Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

For some strange old man reason my body wakes every morning between 4 and 5 am. This morning I intend to go to Flatrock to fish the Huron river so just to be on the safe side I set my alarm clock for 4:30. I thought I'd better not risk depending just on my internal alarm. I wanted to make a lunch, fix a thermos, and drink some coffee before my friend arrives at 5:30. Does my internal clock cooperate? Nope, it decides that 3:30 would be a much better time.

I missed the broadcast.

I tried to tune in but was late (thought it was gonna be at 11 and checked in at 10:15), then my slow connection didn't want to download whatever program I needed to watch it. We have satellite internet out here in the sticks and it pretty much sucks. Is it on the site somewhere to view?

ETA: Got the link from Lisa and girls above, THANKS!

I didn't know polio was still around. How sad to have that. I had an Aunt that had that it messed up her foot and leg really bad.
I wish I had it in me to eat my birds but I just can't do it.

It's not my preferred method of dealing with these sweet birds but I'm very pragmatic so that's probably where they'll be going. I think I'll separate all the boys into the chicken tractor and start loading on the protein. It's time. They're 7 weeks old now. It's just those cute muffs are sweet talking me. But no. I don't want mix cockerels around and I'm pretty sure no one here does either but I have to try and I'll probably try again before it's over, just for kicks. I could bring them to chickenstock but I don't see how that would help. If I spend the money to finish them for slaughter, I couldn't justify giving them away. I'd have to charge as if I were a grocery store for the meat because that's the only way I can see them ending up. *shrug*

I do the same thing. In the winter, it's maddening because the sun doesn't come up for so long and there's not much to be accomplished in the dark. During the summer, I can tolerate it. The robins or the sun usually wakes me up regardless and it's great to get stuff done before the whole family is up and in my way or needing me. Enjoy the fishing!

Sorry for the double post but I just watched the video and have to say...

That man reminds me of my old neighbors in Samaria. All the anger I had for them just poured out at this guy. Same deal. At least his stupidity is out there for all to see now. You using our tax dollars to raise chickens? You weren't using our tax dollars until he decided to be a jerk. It's on him, not you.

Good morning! These are a few pics of the freebies I got a couple weeks ago. The lady said there were 13 (I only counted 12 so she might have lost one and didn't realize). They were supposed to be Isa Browns, Jersey Giants, Barred Rocks, a RIR, and a Polish. There are 2 I'm pretty sure aren't either - in fact 1 may be a banty of some sort. The Polish looks Silkiesh to me but I've never had either before so I may

be wrong. I took pics from my phone so I will have to post each pic in a separate post . . . Sorry!
