Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Good morning, MICHIGAN PEEPS!

(hey, Bess - did you get that pullet delivered? Hope all went well, and thanks so much for doing that!)

It was fantastic to meet up with old friends and make new ones at Chickenstock this year - I'm thrilled the turnout was so good again! Michigan rocks!

Yes she did. :) Thank you! My son named her "Penny".

I actually already received 2 eggs from her yesterday. One egg was waiting for me first thing yesterday morning when I went to greet her, and I got another from her in the afternoon. They look beautiful next to my white, blue, peach, brown, & pink eggs. :)

GOODNESS! I guess she's happy in her new home! Glad she's doing so well. :)

For those of you interested in logging feedback for the 2013 C-S, I've started a thread for planning ahead for next year: https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/797074/michigan-chickenstock-2014-planning-ahead

Bailey my Angora goat gave birth to her kids in the wee hours of the morning! Two adorable little kids, one buckling and one doeling! I will be getting more pictures once the camera is charged up, so here are some cell pictures in the meantime! The kids are Nigoras, a mix between an Angora parent and a Nigerian Dwarf parent.

BOTH kids have true blue eyes! That makes 4/4 kids born out of George blue eyed. I am beginning to wonder if he is homozygous for blue eyes! More breedings will tell for sure. But that would certainly be neat!

Bailey is being a great mother! Very attentive to her kids! Mother and kids are all doing very well!

WANTED: CHICKEN SITTER!

I am starting to look for someone who can chicken-sit for me while we are out of town for about a week in August. Are there any "regulars" on the forums that would be able to do this for me? If someone is in Rockford and could shut them in nightly that would be awesome, but really I am just hoping to have someone check in on them for water and food three times while we are gone. I have birds in two small tractors, and one 4x8' coop so not a ton. If this sounds like something you might be able to do, please send me a message. I'm not sure what the going rate is for chicken sitting, but you can let me know what you think is fair, depending on your gas expenses and time. Thanks!

I could do the three times a week part if you can't find anybody closer (I'm in Alto (SE) so a daily trip would be a bit far). Keep me on the back burner, just in case.

ETA: I'm negotiating with my own farm-sitter on the phone as I type. :)

Funny, I am looking for a sitter for the end of August for 10 days. I'm in plainwell area, so if anyone in my area would be interested in letting my girls out in the morning and locking them in at night and checking food and water... Pm me and let's see if we can work something out? Thanks!

It was nice to see faces yesterday! Thank you to all of you who did so much work. I feel like I didn't see or talk to everyone that I had planned on. DH missed it all taking Titus (puppy) in to the vet. Titus is not back to his normal puppy self but much improved and back eating, drinking and walking about stiffly like a little old man. He is however being overly spoiled and I'm sure will never recover from being allowed on the bed!

Last night we arrived home a little after 6 and I went to check all the birds. It was a shock to the system that it was 68* here. Anyway while we were gone some jokester had visited our coop.

My guess is my mom. The little egg in back is an OEG so it is small.

HA HA HA!!!
