It can snow on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. That's it. Then I'm done. And the two places I've lived are known for snow. Here and Colorado. The first year we lived there we got 36 inches in 36 hours. I couldn't see my car for a week. Except for the antenna.

Hmmm. That 36" in 36 hrs in Colo. was that '81 or '82? And one of the worst blizzards in decades? I was there for that one, visiting dad & nana.

Just so happens my DAD's side of the fam is in Colo....

No it was 02-03 when we moved out there and I can't remember if it was fall, winter or spring when we got that snow. We were in castle rock. Where's your dad at?

Well, when it comes to mega-storms in CO, it can come pretty much any time of year except summer! If I recall, April can actually be their snowiest months.

Dad is now in Lakewood. Was in Aurora back in the '80s. Nana had a BEAUTIFUL spread in Boulder. Was an old golf course clubhouse. Lots of land. In fact, I THINK that is where this sudden farming instinct I am getting must be from. She had cows, gardens, canned, etc.
His sis (my aunt) & his bro (uncle) are somewhere in the foothills....

When he & my mom were married, they were in California, where I was born (& probably got my warm weather liking, even tho came back to Mich when I was 3).

Fuzzy, you might try putting some pipe insilation over the edge of the opening for your cage

Amy, that sounds great, GR with chickens, I love it
I have white ,buff and whheaton chanteclair rooster 12 weeks old also black, silver, and possibly lavender Ameracauna rooster that need to be rehomed or they go to the freezer in Oct. if any one is interested

went to the kent cty 4-H fair today to watch the chicken judging. I was very impressed with the knowledge of the kids. I wanted to have one come and give me a lesson. They did an awesome job

This is what almost 90lbs of daffodil bulbs looks like. I spent the last five days digging them up from around our huge old burr oak. The pasture fence used to go around the tree and the flowers were planted along that fence line according to the posts I hit every ten feet. Most didn't bloom anymore, being overcrowded and VERY deep in the ground. I'd guess they'd probably not been thinned in a while, if at all.

We are planning on going to the Kent Co. Youth Fair this week sometime. Not sure which day yet. Grand Rapids already allows chickens I believe. It's just that that privilege could be in jeopardy is the way I understand it.

Since you pulled those bulbs, are you planning to replant them next year? I love seeing the wild ones all over. Just purty...

ANYWAY! My pink skinned silkie Sole has..... BUMBLEFOOT! How the heck does she get bumble foot in the garage? Must found something to step on. I have to get iodine tomorrow and make the paste, then lock her butt up for several days. She is SO not going to like me. Never had a bumble foot before. It is soft yet, so I am hoping that it was caught in plenty of time before having to cut into her foot.

Got pics
The moms and babies. Yes... Full size hen on serema... The babies running around... I don't get Ekta... She can brood all on her own, but she sure likes brooding with somehen else. Well, UNDER somehen else.

Little Pretty. As you can see, her one wing is wonky, but her feathers are growing back in a light salmon color. Looks like I need to redcote her feet too. Dang mites. She lost a few toes to the coon fight..

Rotten Ruby. She NEVER shuts up. She NEVER stops licking. Her tongue just goes and goes when she is happy, which is nearly all the time. The only time she's not happy? When she's on one side of the fence, and I am on the other.

Mr. Ed. He had a golden tan chest, but it's be slowly going black.

Both phoenix boys. I haven't come up with a name for the blue yet, I keep calling him the Blue Boy... It'll probably stick.. So uncreative.

Love this sign.
ha ha ha! I still say i wish i was closer. I have a camper coop and i could come a visiting and give eggs :D Can't get a ticket for driving through with them, can I?
I'd like to see their faces when PET chickens were being held in the streets and real eggs eaten! LOL
Hooray! Mine are on antibiotics and of the 3 of the 5 who had it have healed nicely. The other 2 i'm still working on. I think i found the culprit finally too. I have a rabbit cage for a nest box, which works out great if one goes broody i can shut her in if any babies are hatched. But i think this group of birds is stepping on the little wire lip to get in instead just right in like the others used to; it would explain why it was always the right foot! had me buggered. So that nest is closed and they get the dog house for now until i figure out what to do about it.
Snowflake beat me to it. you might have to cover the pipe insulation with electrical tape to keep them from pecking at it.

That's a lot of daffodils. I love em. But wouldn't you replant them next month?
