Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Alright, thank you!

I think we will definitely be getting an early winter this year. The trees in our yard are starting to change color.

We hardly even had summer this year.

Blasphemy!

I think a lot of plants are succumbing to various fungi this year. It's the first year in a long time that I'm seeing blossom end rot on my tomatoes and mushrooms sprouting in the garden. We haven't had a chance to dry out between rains so it's prime conditions for all kinds of fungi. I saw a maple tree yesterday with some affliction, not the black spot you see on Norways but something else similar with brown leaves and spots. I'd have to look it up to be sure but there's something going around. The locust trees are looking dreadful this year too.

What?! Hastings is not that far from me. :( ***runs to the window to check*** Yikes... I can see some color change too! I didn't notice it before, but I know I'll be seeing it every time I walk out the door now. Winter sucks.

You've got that right! Winter is terrible. Especially when your coop/barn doesn't have electricity and you have to deal with tons of frozen water.

am i the only person around here who doesn't mind having had a short, mild summer? my only problem with it is that i don't know if my tomatoes will ever do anything this year.

I just literally LOLed,:D

In my heart, I want to say "yes". But, I am pretty sure that or are not the only one.

However, besides having always loved hot weather even before I decided to grow & can/Blanche/freeze most of my veggies, this has been a pitiful year for my garden. Just too darn damp & cold. If we hadn't had that 1 week of 90s, pretty sure I wouldn't get any peppers this year!

And, my green beans are also horrible. Tomatoes. Still nice & green. In August. About the only thing doing well is my spaghetti squash!

my potatoes did well, as did my zucchini/crookneck squashes and my corn seems to be. but that is about it. of course, i didn't do a great job with my garden this year either. didn't weed enough and was a bit late on planting. don't think i will get more than a couple of tomatoes or peppers.
