My property title actually has a section that reads

"This parcel may be located within the vicinity of farmland or a farm operation. Generally accepted agricultural and management practices which may generate noise, dust, odors and other associated conditions may be used and are protected by the Michigan right to farm act."

I wonder if there is a way to check the titles on parcels belonging to neighbors that move to the country and suddenly decide they don't want to be by a farm to see if they have something like this in them?

There are some communities that have that wording, Farmington Hills has it on some parcels.
You would have to check with the recorder of deeds at the local or county level.

It just occurred to me that these lessons in Civics are not taught in school. I wonder why...

We still have Jack and Jill. They were put in with the meat birds and bantams but have remained very aloof from them. They totally do their own thing even though they are in the flock. I would re-home if I find them a good home not because I don't like them but rather because I'm not sure his tail will survive the other roosters here.
I am not 100% on what sex they are yet. Out of the six young ones I have no one has laid an egg or crowed yet. I may in the future depending on how they all sort out. These guys came as eggs from 1muttsfan before she sold her cochins.

As long as he isn't by himself, his tail will not grow more than 12 inches or so as is. Not so much from other roos, but more because he's going to be mating. The only way to get the really long feathers is to keep them from reproducing for the first two years.

Speaking of phoenix.. Last night my Blue Boy caught himself a mole... little itty bitty velvety mole. That poor mole was making such a noise! Then the game of mole football commenced. That poor mole. I guess that may teach the other moles that deciding to have their little mole hole 2 feet outside of the phoenix coop... My 4 yr old was hysterically laughing at the 7 birds running around trying to get the mole. LOL Yuck.

I just discovered another problem with my tomato jungle. I found a hornworm on one of the OUTSIDE plants today.....pretty small, only about an inch long, but there is absolutely no way for me to get to the middle row of plants to check for them. If I get an infestation, I'll probably lose 4 or 5 plants. And then I get stung by a bee. Ugh. My whole lower back is now bright red.

I was able to re-home almost all of my silkie cockerels! She's also on here (BYC), although she hasn't been to this thread....maybe she'll stop by.
