Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Congratulations farmerboy!

Paintwife, I love the video clip! Just forwarded it to my hubby! We are already talking about getting a goat, lol!

I am quite surprised at Belinda's color! She is gray with some dark brown and white markings! And she is so soft! But Bella is very very protective of her baby. Bella had charged at me, and everyone had to keep their distance. It might be a challenge to get her into my new milkshed to milk her tomorrow morning. I can't wait to see how much milk she will produce! She loves apples, so I will bribe her with those to get her into the milkshed.

Cutest calf ever!

Not chicken related, but has anyone else gotten the new digital electric meters from consumer's energy in? I got mine last month and my electric has literally doubled, I've turned most of my fuses off at the box and still using about 5 units a day.

Would be good, except this is an unfinished trailer and i don't have any appliances, this is only for occasional light bulbs and microwave use!!!! ???? Waiting for Mon to call and schedule for a meter inspection *this is nuts.* I even went to the lengths of turning off my water heater, so that's not it either. :( ?
No TV, no stove, no fridge, no AC, nothing. Last month they got me for over $40! This month will be even more by the looks of it.

You guys ever have one of those moments? The one where you think holy crap, if any one told me three years ago I'd have chickens, have a garden and be canning and pickling my own food (and having a conversation with said chickens) I'd slap the snot out of them? Having one of those moments. And pretty dang proud if myself for learning all this chicken, gardening, canning stuff. And I'd never go back.

She's so beautiful, love the color. Genetics are amazing. Wish I understood them better. Good luck with the milking! We're looking forward to fresh milk. I've got one frozen quart left and I guess it's time to get it out and make some ice cream.

Hello I'm in the Detroit metro area and I have 3 wonderful roosters they are the nicest roosters I've had. I can't keep them so I'm giving them away for free, I just want them to go to a good home, they really are wonderful roosters

Newbies!

Went to the Eastern Market in Detroit yesterday. It was amazing. All those fresh vegetables and fruits. Lots of people there.

Adorable calf, Daron. Congrats!

Had lots of fun camping in Caseville last week. Cheeseburger fest was a blast. Kids of course love the parade.

Anyone in Davison area... I've got a dwarf apple tree that is loaded with apples. The hail storm bruised most of the apples, tho. If anyone has goats, horses or pigs that will eat them, you can come and pick all you want. Hate to see them wasted.

It's a beautiful day, hope you all enjoy!

Hey you all - I have a chantecler hen with some peculiar issues....For the longest time she looked like she was moulting and was without feathers on her head and back....then she grew most of the feathers back in, but she is SKINNY....although she eats....and drinks and actually is quite good at securing treats when they are distributed....I've checked/rechecked her for health issue, and find none...including lice/mites...but if I pull back her feathers, her skin is leathery, dry/scaley.....any suggestions or has anyone seen anything like this before?
btw, she does not perch at night, but lays on the floor under the nesting boxes...I would say that she was ill, but honestly, don't see any symptoms....thoughts?

Thanks
