Sad story Opa. Condolences.

So yesterday I was at Bass Pro Shop down Pontiac Way. (Yah I know they want to be called Auburn Hills or whatever but be real. It's Pontiac). So anyway. Inside the store there is this one single duck. With chicken feet! What's up with that, does anyone know? Was it a Mandarin maybe? I felt so sad for it, being a singleton. Well, that and living inside a store.

I've always wanted one of those! Doesn't it just beg to be made into an aviary?

Yes, and that's what I plan to use it for ... if I can get my hands on one!

I'd like a double high one so I can separate it and make a covered run with the roof and an open run, covered with netting. It'll be for my turkeys.

Three men are killed in a tragic accident and to their surprise they find themselves standing at the gates of heaven where they are greeted personally by St Peter. He welcomes them to heaven and informs them that one important rule to remember is to never step on the ducks.

As they entered they see that there thousands of ducks of every species imaginable. Walking is going to be extremely difficult.

Within hours of their arrival a duck is stepped on and killed. Saint Peter immediately appears and informs the offender that his punishment is to be chained for eternity to an extremely ugly woman. Only a few days pass before a second duck is stepped on and Saint Peter once again appears with an ugly woman and a length of chain.

The third man, not wanting to spend eternity chained to a ugly woman, is extremely watchful and goes months without stepping on a duck. One morning Saint Peter appears and without saying a word chains him to the most beautiful woman he has ever seen. When Saint Peter leaves he says to the woman "I don't know what I did to earn be chained to someone as beautiful as you" .

She shudders and then says "I don't know what you did, but I stepped on a duck".

What color was it? Price? There are some 'tree ducks', but I dont know the breeds, have only seen a very few, they also fly as would be expected. Both Mandarin and Wood Ducks have more chicken like feet then other ducks. I think that I would have bought it just to find out what it is.

Sequy: Where and when are the poultry shows in MI for this fall and next year?

Lastly, I have five started Delaware chicks, 5-8weeks old, docile, well grown. I dont have a good place to winter them else i would keep them. Next year I will have some more when the other chicken house gets built. They are free to a good home. Their parents just moved to Oscoda.
