I know there is other forums but I still don't get it? If a EE is a mutt then how is Ameraucana being a cross if bred together not a mutt? (Not trying to offend anybody)
So what is the difference between a Easter Egger and a Ameraucana? I understand that a Araucana is its own breed? Also does anybody in SE Michigan have any true Araucana chicks for sale?
I'm looking it up right now. And, blonde that I am, I said Almont - she's actually in Attica. Barely out of Lapeer.Cool, could you pm her number?
correct,(Ijust read that) needs to breed true, what all that includes,I am not sure, The Araucana is rumpless, some one on the Mi. sight has some, I have Amaraucana's lots of spare roosters if you want one, but no Araucana, I like tailsEE just describes a colored-egg layer (usually green, blue, sometimes pinkish, or tan). Ameraucana's have to be a certain color/build/comb/eye color to actually BE Ameraucana's. Seems like "breeding true" was somewhere in there too, but I don't recall.
You may also want to check out insurance companies. We purchased our home on 8 acres in 2002. We have had the same company since then. The storm we had 2 weeks ago resulted in us filing a claim. Adjuster came out said " You have chickens? You can't have them on your policy, they are farm animals." He called Insurance agent and sure enough they are canceling us if we don't get rid of the chickens. I have been shopping around for another carrier but getting quotes for more that double what we are paying now.
We had gotten the okay from township but, who would have thought to check with their insurance company.
OK as you guys know I'm very new to this. One of my pullets...about 22 wk old, all of a sudden want to sleep a lot. Noticed it for the first time yesterday, She will get up and move around if I go in there but then walk away and she goes to sleep. She got up this morning and seemed to eat fine but I go in there again a little bit ago and she is still just wanting to sleep all day. I noticed she also has very liquid poops. Does this sound like cocci. I will go buy the corid today if that sounds like what it is. Will that hurt the chickens if they take it and they don't have cocci? This chicken thing is more stressful than I thought it would be!
cocci is in most if not all chickens, it is in the soil,,, it only becomes a problem when they get an over load, Corid should not hurt and if you give it you should give it to all the birds.
you can bring a stool sample to a vet most(with a little persuasion) will check for parasites, When they ask what do chickens get I tell them most anything a dog or cat can get

Sorry no roo's even though the ordinances say chickens/rabbits/waterfowl Ok no roo's I'm still staying on the down low because it doesn't have a number allowance. I wasn't about to ask and get red flagged they're already @$%$#@ and aren't consistent on enforcing rules. They put me through the flux getting a privacy fence permit about materials location and when I pointed out neighbors that had the same fence. He said they didn't get a permit. There fences still up 3 yrs later supposedly not code compliant. A few months ago I get a ticket for having my trash cans behind the garage where they've always been. I'm on a corner so its on the side street and other corner houses have them visible at their side doors. I got the I'm new to your area ect...the other person just let it side. Anyway I thought I bought ameracauna's but I guess there just ee's still don't know if they'll pullets or roos.
