Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I'll let them rest, and save the artificial production boosting light for me.  So grateful for my happy light. ;)

So they work? I saw one but wasn't sure

We are switching over to natural gas from propane. The bad news, we just got a new water heater last month!

I thought you could get an adapter? You can for stoves...$30

Our speckled Sussex Roo is very sweet. Will he crush my bantams if he mounts them? I would like to know so I can decide what to do.

How old is he? If he has his spurs in and is still gentle with the girls i think it is ok. My old roo had a bantam cochin he gingerly serviced but my current roo pulls neck feathers out and is rough enough to bald their backs...him i can't trust for a little hen. Me, i would intro slow on a day you will be home to supervise.

I truly have no use for winter...except that I get to wear my cool boots (the dressy, work kind) & snow during XMAS week..

Every year I tolerate the cold less. And as I was scraping ice & snow off my car at 4:30am to go to work, putting the wool liner in my coat, ...yep...I HATE THIS!

If virtually all my family didn't live within an hour of me...I would be out of here (I'd find a new job in a diff state)...

My Grandpa had black walnut trees on his property, he would spread the nuts on his driveway and drive over them to loosen and remove the husks, then use a vise in his tool shop to crack them - they are indeed very hard. They do lend a unique taste to baked goods, love banana bread with black walnuts.

Cold, snowy and blowing here this am - glad I got the heaters under the waterers yesterday. Not a single chicken outside yet today. While far fewer in number than in the past, we still get freighters moored offshore waiting for the high winds to abate.

Sam I sure hope you recover quick, Infection is nothing to mess with.. So sorry your dealing with it.. watch it close, and if you think its getting worse, or running high temp get back to the Drs.. Hopefully you have a quicker recovery they they say and can get some hunting in.. Big hugs and prayers your way..

Those gales of November. My sister was born Nov 11, 1975 at 1:00a.m. so that night is my first childhood memory. I was thinking of all those out on the water.

Just went out and did chores and every single watered was frozen. Not sure what I was expecting with as cold as it has been for 3 days, but I hauled out the heaters an hung the bucket in the big coop. I'm hoping we (my husband and myself) can both take deer before Sunday and get the winter runs enclosed and in place while the temperatures are (supposed to be) warm.

You sound so much like me. I always say, if it weren't for all my family being around here is move in a second. I want my kids to know and have those close ties with family. But in 16 more years when hubs retires.., I'm outta here. Maybe I need to make a really, really long paper chain ;-)
