Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Thank you looks like a good mix.. burgers were awesome, mixed in some other spices as well.. like some liq smoke, garlic, onion powder, worchestshire, sage, were pretty tasty.. one nice thing about these burgers there isnt much shrinkage when you cook them, like hamb.. or any burg with lots more fat.
Aaaargh! Worcestershire. The little squiggly lines underneath mean it's spelled incorrectly. (Sorry, I'm from Worcestershire!)

One of my sisters took this picture today at our backyard during the rare sunshine after the ice storm. God is wonderful artist, is He not? Ice storms are very deadly, but at the same time, very beautiful.

We still had power, but the village of Sparta was out! Gotten a half inch of ice! Fun trying to feed livestock while trying not to slip. It was hard on my cows ankles as the jagged edges of ice cut them in the pastures.

Hello everyone, I just thought I'd drop in and thank SillyChicken for inviting me to join :) I live in Dundee MI, about 5 miles from Cabelas.

I also went about a week back and started reading this thread, the 1000+ pages was a little intimidating ;) Anyway, I saw that there were a couple posts looking for hens and I just happen to have at least 6 19 wk pullets that I was going to find new homes for. That is IF anyone is interested.

Haha thanks.

Anyone selling any hens? Laying or not, breed doesn't matter. As long as its a hen.

Thanks for the offers on birds Our roost/jlynnet/silly chicken and ibrykowsli also rtf for transport. I'm gonna try a figure out a game plan to get some girls starting next weekend. Took my neighbor shopping because her car is down and GFS in Livonia had small hen turkeys left from thanksgiving for about 6 dollars. Great price if your on a budget.

Thanks snowflake!

Not familiar with Buisque?

Do you have a rooster for those Americanas (EE's?) maybe you'll have some fertile eggs around the end of January? I could drive up and buy some. Will put out the call here again then.

I believe she meant Basque (aka euskal oiloa), autocorrect can be a pain........
Ahhh, thanks!

I've finished three crossword puzzles, drunk several cups of coffee, got Granny up and fed, checked a couple of web sites, placed a bid on E-bay, and now I'll sit and relax for thirty minutes or so till time to start helping prep everything for today's dinner.

When my sons were small we would alway celebrate on Xmas eve so that they be with their mother on Christmas day. When Hope and her sons came to live with me it was a tradition we continued. Now that all of the boys are grown and married it makes it easier for them to accomodate their wives if they come to our house on Xmas eve.

So this year the tradition continues with one of my sons and his wife, both of Hope's sons and their families, her stepfather, one of my brothers, a neighbor, and of course my old farmer friend. Needless to say we are going to have a house full of company.
