Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Beautiful Christmas Eve Today. Outside, the ice is making bizarre sounds that are really quite loud! Peace on Earth, Love, Harmony and Joy to All of You & Your Flocks. And to those who aren't here now due to power outage... Merry Christmas & Happy New Year 2014!

Merry Christmas to all. Getting ready to head to mom's for XMAS Eve.

Hope Santa is good to everyone ;)

One of the several cookie trays I put together (& ate too many of while doing :D)

As all you hunters know, it's been pretty slim pickings since opening weekend firearms.

Well, I was just on back porch a few minutes ago, looked out, & wouldn't ya know it, a couple of does. Now, we have to leave for my mom's in 10 mins &, of course, DH had a perfect shot! had to change clothes, go get her & is currently finishing up.

Isn't that just the way it seems to work? Not the most convenient time, but I doubt mom will mind much if we are 10 minutes late or so :). Especially since The majority of this deer will go to local families in need/food shelter as we pretty much are set except for jerky & sausages...

Good job on the doe! Bow I assume?
It's kind of you to donate the meat to those in need! We sometimes forget that there are people going hungry while we fill our bellies... It feels so good to help others!

I need some Christmas chicken wisdom. It was -20 up here last night and a high of 6 today and already back to -1 with a beautiful clear sky. I have a polish rooster who was frosted up last night, his crest that is. I blow dried him and put him back out. Tonight as I was closing up I found him with his wattles swollen up huge. I am assuming it is frost bite but have never experienced swelling with it before. Does that mean it is worse than when it is just black or just more tissue involved than on a comb tip? And what do I do for the poor guy?

Stay warm and enjoy the rest of your Christmas Eve.
