LOVE split pea soup!!! save the bone from my spiral hams just for that purposeGood luck, Opa; hope your next post details some good news![]()
Think the deer are moving a bit more. DH got a decent doe last night which he gave to the landowner who hasn't had much luck. DH's muzzleloader is very accurate at VERY long ranges, which is where the deer had been showing up on this property (like 400+ yds). Said the doe he got was at ~460yds per his LRF.
Another of his friend's freezer is lacking & is running into same issue, deer on her property only showing up far away, so I think he is going to go & try & help her out today...
I have a nice large pot of split pea soup simmering to can today. Luckily I caught my mom before she went to Honey Baked Ham Co & asked her to get a "bone in" ham for XMAS dinner. While she can't stand split pea soup, my stepdad & I LOVE it. So this batch is for the 2 of us. I think my sister saved her ham bone too for me, so looks like I'll be able to get another batch done soon; so dad & I shall be happy campers for the rest of the year![]()
I had to get all of the rest of my XMAS cookies off my kitchen counter. Every time I went in there, I would eat 2 or 3. Think I ate about 3 dozen yesterday (& that is not an exaggeration ). Still have a lot left, so back in the freezer they go so I can enjoy them for the next several months. I had quite the sugar buzz going yesterday, then crashed & burned about 1900. I don't think they are calorie free anymore![]()
Kat, my mom's power finally came on last night, she was camped out at a friend's whose power came on Thursday, but is back home and happy. Thanks so much for your kind offer to check in on her. I think we finally have her convinced to go buy a tracphone for emergency use (her major complaint was that you had to buy the minutes! Then they are only good for 3 months!). Perhaps the visit by the Okemos police checking on her Christmas day after we had not heard from her since Monday convinced her.
