Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Not sure what got this topic started. But if I have upset anyone.... or if I've ever made anyone uncomfortable.... or leave the thread...I'm sorry! BTW...I am not sure if I'll be attending CS this year.

What, you won't come? I was hoping you'd do a new tee shirt design. I had some rooster art and with a hen art I think we'd have something for the guys and gals.

Sorry to hear about the kittens.

Do you send out your blood samples? I had the vet do our's a few years ago. Let me know your procedure. Please PM me if you want.

BTW, the chatter about posts has mostly been about people missing from the thread. Friends that are missed...

Did anyone get to see the pictures I took at last years meeting? I think I read a bout three comments about them. The photos are in my profile album "Sponsors"
I saw your pictures just now. I must have missed your post back then when the thread was moving so fast. I know a bunch of people never saw mine because if they missed the post it never occurred to them how to find the pics. The fix would be to post any, and all, thing(s) chickenstock in the official thread that Silly started last year, and for this year, the one that Wynette started. That way people will have an easier time finding the information (less posts most likely). BTW, nice pics.

Silly, I wish you lived closer. One of my does is in heat and my "go-to" buck is not available now. Another promise down the tubes. I think my best bet is to find my own NGD buckling and keep him myself.

Photos as promised

Tub on left will be placed in 1020 tray tomorrow after being rinsed and the tub on the right is a brand new batch being soaked.

You can also sprout some sunflower seeds for the tasty tender shoots.
Just about any grain sprouted makes for a nice treat in the dead of winter.
I'm working on some malted corn myself.

Sounds like a "human" treat to me...???

I heard that you can add any sort of seeds to the sprouts which I hope they like barley. I got Valor barley by the bushel for $18.00.

I have some BOSS, maybe throw some of that in too? They eat that shell and all right now though...

Tell me more about malted corn RaZ?

Shewww.....with this cold I'm glad I canceled my order of chicks for the fist week in February and decided to wait until April. If this weather keeps up, I don't think the chicks would survive the trip!

I have decided to buy locally from Crazy Chicken Ranch (out of Capac, MI) in April. She was a very nice person and I would rather buy locally from an independent business owner than the big chick distributor's. She has a website if some of you folks are around that area. I called her and she said she would start selling chicks in April.
That is cool to hear, especially since I'm in Capac. They were closed last year due to vandals

, hope all goes better for them now.

We have two windows that are just screwed in place. We can lower one of them to give an extra inch x 20" of ventilation away from they roost that they favor. Hopefully that will be enough. Meanwihile, they are hanging out at the open door, soaking up the sun.
Mine love their big door open when the sun is out also. They all they right there and soak it up, while I'm in worrying that it's to cold to have the big door open. lol

Recently several posts mentioned Chickenstock 13 and 14

I noticed several children last year that seemed bored out of their minds. Might we organize some old fashioned "fun" for them? Activities like egg toss, sack races, egg carry in spoons races, Softball, kickball, money search contests, ........ Ask your kids what they think???? I spoke with two of our great grandchildren on Christmas Day and they agreed that that kind of thing might be good. 4H activities were suggested too. How about beautiful or ugly chicken competitions? +++++++ I would be willing to chair or be otherwise involved in a group to work on these kinds of things.
Sounds like an awesome idea. Mine are all older, but kids do get bored easily. Ugly chicken competition
