@angelab I could get ya some eggs if you've got a 'bator.

@taprock So what's with the bumbles? Here too, remember. Seems like its been just too darn cold to have had the "wet" conditions that breed the bumbles... This is my 1st time ever dealing with these, and it was only 2 of my 12, so that makes me think that some individuals must be more susceptible than others. & when I was doing the chicken and duck appliqués last year, I was just using google and also this free clip art site (that I can no longer remmy the addy for), then I'd trace those. But the books look very cool.

DH reports "at least 12" here. I trucked out 2x today, and that was just totally enough for me!

In the past I used stock tanks as a brooder. Works pretty well for young hatchlings. I was thinking that a play pen (baby cage) would be nice for a hospital/isolation pen for a critter that might need to be isolated.
Raz, my babies grew up and are free ranging now. We have a play pen that I need to sell, but it's kind of "fancy", and I can get $35 from folks buying it for small humans. If you want that one for $35, let me know. Otherwise, you're on FB, right? I'd bet you could find a resale group for parents in your area, and put a request out there.

Interesting have not seen a lot about this in our local paper, will have to check it a little closer, Belding is such a small city I can't imagine they would be in the Detroit paper

It was in the Saturday (Jan. 04, 2014) edition of the Detroit News. A lady by the name of Kim Orlich, written by Francis X. Donnelly.

A friend on FB suggested checking at the Salvation Army for one. I'll check there tomorrow.
In the mean time, this is what I am dealing with which made me think about a baby cage.

I have family from Belding.
Unfortunately shes well known for her son drownding there a few months ago.
:(

Im trying to get her to come out this summer to visit my farm. Im think some small lovable farm critters will make her visit a good memory.

My son measured almost 18" of snow! Only a few chickens would even consider checking out the snow. My DH has snow blowed 3 times. Not looking forward to the beyond bitter cold at all.:(

@HollyDuckFarmer , I was thinking of getting a small bator from TSC. The kind you can put like 6 eggs in it. How much for the eggs? Thank you for offering!

I am so not looking forward to go to work tomorrow!!! I work at a sorta small dairy farm, and I am outside 90% of the day!!! Brrr. Got a lot of snow here already.

@AngelaB I sell my eggs for $4/doz... Honestly tho I would not try hatching right now for 2 reasons: 1) temperatures. I had 2 miserable hatches last spring that broody moms started early, before temps warmed up, and 2) I cannot guarantee fertility, as it seems like right now my ducks are pretty much not paying any attention to each other beyond keeping warm. Just being honest. The other thing is all my eggs are barnyard mixes, after 2 years, I've only hatched just one pure breed, if that matters to you.
