Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Good evening everyone....... I'm new to this thread and wanted to say hi. And ask a question. Is there anyone between Lansing and Ann Arbor that would be will to teach me how to process meat birds. I don't have any yet but would like to get some. I have read and watched online a lot but am so afraid I will do it wrong or worse freak out the first time and kill the bird slowly or just injure it.
Thank you

nice to have you join the Mi. thread. chicken stock is a great picnic with a bunch of crazy chicken lovers. June 21 in Lansing, hope you can stop in

Opossums are definitely out and about. Almost hit one crossing the road the other day in broad daylight.

Went out to gather eggs a little while ago and my chickens made a mad dash for the door and left. It's the first time they've tried since they've been moved into the new coop. But they didn't go far. We still have pretty deep snow all around the coop so they keep going around the perimeter where it's melted and the grass is showing through. Silly chickens. Stuck on an island.

I'm going to take advantage of this last warm day and try to get about half of the litter out of all of the coops and put in new. Should be a GREAT time.

It's also kind of necessary in the one coop because I suspect they have lice again.

well not raining yet, maybe I will go shovel some snow out of my run, may help the run off
good shot on the opossum I have seen a# of them and tracks going around my run. non inside run though. they can squeeze through a 2x4 welded wire, fence I have watched them do it, there are still a few spots on my run that don't have chicken wire or hardware cloth over the 2x4 at the bottom so I am on the watch, hoping the electric fence will detour them
