RaZI am going to be doing a bit of a flock reduction later this spring. They will be purebred Araucanas, just ones that don't quite fit my goals. They might be tailed/tufted. Cleanfaced/rumpless. Heck, I might have some tufted/rumpless available if their color isn't right. Mostly hens, too.
I have a gal in MN who has first dibs (I promised a while ago). But any others that are available I will share here.
My one problem is that I do not go down to the lower peninsula. I don't have a reason to. All my family there has moved away, so I don't have a reason to go below the bridge. So that could be a logistical problem for MI folks who are interested, but live too far South.
You don't like hanging with the trolls? My in laws live across the bay on the stonington peninsula. I've been discussing chickens with them and they seem interested in starting to raise chickens as well. Would you mind if I somehow get them in touch with you when they get back from Florida in April?
That is absolutely beautiful. I have forgotten what it was intended for? I especially like that you've captured the gentle intelligence and patience in his eyes. So very hard for an artist, and a rare gift! I work on things too but not at so advanced a level; watercolor here. The eyes are the soul and i won't buy a picture no matter the beauty if they've not captured it!
I've done research on biology papers that were less convoluted.
Hm. I never considered that, but it makes sense. You may have just changed my plans for the spring.... Though since most of these hens were raised by broodies, they are not ultra friendy/in your face birds. The cost of letting a broody to the mothering is not being able to be hands on.
anyway She lays an "olive-ish" colored egg, but inside it's blue. Is that how it's supposed to look
