Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I am going to be doing a bit of a flock reduction later this spring. They will be purebred Araucanas, just ones that don't quite fit my goals. They might be tailed/tufted. Cleanfaced/rumpless. Heck, I might have some tufted/rumpless available if their color isn't right. Mostly hens, too.

I have a gal in MN who has first dibs (I promised a while ago). But any others that are available I will share here.

My one problem is that I do not go down to the lower peninsula. I don't have a reason to. All my family there has moved away, so I don't have a reason to go below the bridge. So that could be a logistical problem for MI folks who are interested, but live too far South.
Too many Trolls?

That is absolutely beautiful. I have forgotten what it was intended for? I especially like that you've captured the gentle intelligence and patience in his eyes. So very hard for an artist, and a rare gift! I work on things too but not at so advanced a level; watercolor here. The eyes are the soul and i won't buy a picture no matter the beauty if they've not captured it! :)

I'm donating the drawing to the International Yak Association's directors banquet fund raising auction. Hoping for a decent write off for taxes at least! LOL! But mostly doing it to help a friend.

I was trying to explain the whole GAAMPS thing to people on FB and along comes the manure spreader across the street. It's like they knew I needed a visual aid! Thanks SwissLane Dairy! Urgh.... that *really* is going to stink come spring and thanks to the GAAMPs, they're protected. Heheh. Lucky them.

I can't remember who was asking about EEers - My current EEer Opal is going to be 4 this spring - She's probably one of my worst layers ever, but my favorite, so she's a permeant resident. She only lays from about May to mid-July, even when she was younger. However - I had another EEer that I lost to raccoons who was a great layer of *huge* green eggs - about 5 a week mot of the year. Either way, they are really fun in the flock - I highly recommend one or ten. ;)

Wow. I have to ask, what's wrong with real fertilizer? Not every farmer out there is trying to stick it to you. We have to make a living to and what else are we supposed to do with the poop?

Unfortunately due to location circumstances (city encroaching on rural) it may not be possible to have pastured land on which to raise the cattle. Some of us third generation farmers are just trying hang on before we too fall under the weight of BIG AG.

Just taking a break from current events.
It is snowing here and pretty gloomy out side, but here is a ray of hope. My lime tree has fruit! Nine (9) little fruit-lets are developing on a tree that is only 17 inches tall. This is like incubating eggs, except far less stressful! LOL

I have an orange tree that produced 12 oranges this year. The biggest was about ping pong ball sized, and they're all terribly sour. But they - and a lot of sugar - made for a nice little celebratory glass of juice.
Raz, are the lime flowers very fragrant? When my tree is in bloom, our house smells so nice!
Lady, mine never did very well until a few months after dropping half of it's leaves and a big pruning. Maybe you're in good shape for summer?
