Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

Thanks Chickwisperer, I was getting discouraged, didn't know how long it would take.

Raz - That's too bad about Hanson, it was worth a try. I also wrote to TSC, didn't find a department to write to so asked then to forward to appropriate dept.

@Trefoil You're welcome. She's hatching some in the spring for me and I can't wait. The first ones I had didn't make it (from a not very reputable breeder I guess) . Died within a week. That was both of our first year with chickens. She's a former neighbor of mine and neither one of us knew the other was getting into backyard chickens! Lol funny how things work out! We were always doing that sort of thing! But I digress.... She said Silkies are sensitive and she will raise them for 4 or 5 weeks for me to make sure they're all strong. Any thing else I can help with let me know. I can ask her. I don't know a lot about them but she's glad to help when she can. She's a high school teacher and all her students really like her. She's also a great chicken mom and friend. We still call each other neighbor.

I'm SO SICK OF THIS COLD and the frozen eggs that it makes! Don't get me wrong. I don't hate winter. I just *prefer* it to be in the 20s instead of the 5s. Had to throw away a lovely olive egg yesterday (and if these are PULLET eggs, I can't WAIT to see what size egg she is laying come summer) and 2 brown eggs today.
I know......I have always wanted to visit Alaska or Iceland....you know what I did , I have been following Iceland's weather and they have been consistently WARMER than us every single time...

....I need to fly to Iceland for the winter from now on....go figure

@ladyrsanti I checked out your link and though I had to look up the video itself on you tube I found it and watched it and her other video "the Universe is Hilarious" which she expands on the results of her "Chicken Police" video. Both terrific! Thanks for the link! I won't give anything away just as a "chicken addict" they are must see!

Yes, I worried all night! I know the have feathers to keep them warm, but mine had the dog attack in December and their new feathers are only about half way out so they can't fully fluff yet. I worry about their combs too. No major frostbite just a little on the tips, but still, you worry.
