I get my CornishX from Meyer Hatchery, my first shipment will come in March 26th. They increased their price for 2014 but I am still buying from them, I'm also getting some BLRWyandottes and a few BlkAustralorps in that order. I am way too pleased with their customer service and quality of birds to shop elsewhere.

that's where I got mine from last year as well, but townline is cheaper this year....and we could very likely be in the 100 range for our order. We raised 70 last year, (split 3 ways) and only have 5 or so left at this point, so I'd like to put at least 40 in the freezer this year for us.

I did about 170 cornishx last summer/fall, I sell enough to cover what I put in freezer so I'm happy with them. I have gotten cornishx from Townline once (through TSC) and was very happy with them also, they were my test run.

how much do you sell them for? i'm curious. If I had the time/inclination to go to the big farmers market in TC I could find out what they sell for locally, but I am NOT dragging my 3 kids into that madhouse by myself!

The thermometer says 25F in the run! But of doesn't feel like it! The coop must be warmer though, since I have never gotten a frozen egg

This will be my 1st yr ordering chicks. I'm gonna do a few meat birds and a few laying hens to add to the flock. My lil feed store in town uses townline and everyone said they like it. Nice thing is they said i could even order just 1 or 2 of a specific breed here and there, there is no minimum to order. Was thinking 2 turkey's also. She said she would have flyers in a couple wks to look at. I'm soooo excited, i do have the meyer catalog here also been looking at.

I referenced craigslist and the local meat market for pricing. Prices around me are about $3.00-3.99 lb, I sell mine for $2.50 lb and I do sell to make a little bit of a profit. I have no problem selling out. I do pasture my birds with supplemented 20% grower feed and market it as pastured, no antibiotics. Oh and I sell from home only by word of mouth, just because I worry about our stupid poultry laws that don't allow me to sell my product legally (because I'm not licenced and inspected). I accept cash only, no paper trail.

Oh and I just thought I'd add that I did butcher around thirty dp roosters this year, a couple oops from the hatchery and the ones I hatched myself. They are fine and dandy in the crock pot but I definitely prefer cornishx for grilling and broiling.

WANTED--I've been looking everywhere for fizzles. Any breed/color except the Polish & Serama ones (they aren't cold hardy).
Would prefer a started pullet (to be aquired now) but will take chicks or even fertile eggs (to be aquired in April/may).

All the hatcheries I have looked at are sold out for 2014 already or don't have any avail till August.

that is a lot of birds to pluck, I hope you have a plucker.    Age and tendinitis have made it very hard for me now. love getting old it is as much fun as this winter

There's a place about 30min from me that processed them for $3/ea last year. Final cost of each bird bought, fed, and butchered was just under $11, and I'm ok with that and not having to mess with feathers and guts. I can process if I have to, but for that many I'd rather let someone else do it.
