How very kind of you Opa!

Part of what I do for my mother and also for my friend is because I firmly believe you get what you give; but perhaps it is also driven by self preservation. What kind of example would I set for my sons if I didn't take care of my mother and my friend.

While he calls each morning to let me know he is okay, I still feet a need to physically check on him. The day after a recent major storm I thought I should go check on him. When I arrived I found that his power had gone off late the previous afternoon. Power wasn't going to be re-established for several days but he hadn't called because he didn't want to bother me.

I think like many of us asking for help is extremely difficult to do. So rather than wondering if he needs anything I'll try to anticiipate his needs. All of us like knowing that someone cares about us and the older we get the more that care is needed and appreciated.

Yep, and thats why we get worried when you don't post Sam!! Kinda like our daily phone call!

So.. after some research and lots of emails back and forth... and heavy DH convincing.

I'll be getting a second Jacobs ewe. This one is registered and should be bred (bonus!!) Hopefully I'll pick her up this weekend!

I decided that though Penny was doing ok with the goats, she would be happier with another ewe for company. Which also means, more fleece for me and maybe, just maybe a little lamb in April too!

For new folks using the multi-quote feature, it makes your posts much easier to read if you edit the quoted material down some. You can do this by going into the quoted material, hylight it and backspace to erase extraneous parts.

Hello Everyone.

I live in the Haslett/Williamston area in Michigan. I've been reading this site for a month or two gaining precious knowledge. I really enjoy reading the Michigan Thread.

I currently have two EE's and one Australorp. Recently I also ordered 25 Australorp pullets from Townline Hatchery ( I've read many good things about them ). They should be here next Tuesday or Wednesday ( Feb 4-5 ). If any of you are interested in buying some chicks please let me know. I'll sell them for $2.50 /ea, which is what the hatchery charges. I really only need 4 or 5, so hopefully I will have 20 up for grabs.

Wow. 233 posts since I last checked in.

It is my understanding that three sheep are a good minimum for companionship. Sheep and goats don't "get along" as it were but co-exist. Sheep need a flock to be comfortable. Mine freak out when they are separated, even if for a moment.

Well supposably the garlic gives the eggs an off taste, but you say yours didn't; i guess i won't be throwing them away after all!
I think it was also supposed to be toxic to them, but so is chocolate supposedly and my birds have eaten it in small amounts through the years before i read that, and all survived? I'll look up the list again.
