Michigan Thread - all are welcome!

I have been worried about the wildlife this year. I have a special spot for the morning doves, and i've noticed less and less of them on the lines. :( I'm hoping the little buggers got pushed southward a little, or are in hiding.

Propane. Wow. I had read that there is a severe shortage & that prices had shot up to $4-5/gallon. Never have I been so glad that my provider had a deal last fall that if you pre-paid for 90% of you average annual usage, you locked in $2.19/gal for the year. We use a wood burner, keep the thermostat 62 & STILL went thru ~1/2 our tank in 33 days (I think that's about 250gal).
The propane jump is scary, a friend of mine who has keep full, they came and filled up and she has a $2000. bill almost. I also locked in last fall for $1.79a gal. Thank God!! Only had to pay an extra $50 to lock in. Best $50 i ever spent. They would only give us 150 gal. though saying they want to make sure there's enough to go around for everyone.

K I did it.

I jumped onto the incubator wagon. I never used one ever only broodies but today I bought a cheap Little Giant still incubator from TSC. Of course there was no instructions in the box so now gonna have to figure how it works.

Now to start saving more eggs! Already have 51 eggs under broodies!

I need a Michigan breeder that I can get some top quality hatching eggs from I am looking for golden cuckoo morans or barnevelders. Any help on a lead would be appreciated. Cedar creek hatchery isnt answering there phone.

Roo is going to freezer camp. DH called earlier & said he'd really been beating up on Blackie (EE). Even a little blood involved. Roo was always the sweetest, calm roo. I recall some of the posts a few days ago about some Roos becoming MEAN as spring approaches. Well, that would be Roo (NHR). He has always been lowest on the totem pole, BUT, DH just called again & Roo was on top of Blackie in one of the nest boxes! Then Roo got all "puffy" & went after DH. So, decision made. Hopefully Munsell's is open tomorrow.
First bird have had to send to camp (Roo almost went during the summer cuz he was hurting the hens while trying to be "sweet" to them) :(

I had noticed some changes in Roo the last several weeks, none of them positive, so I have been kind of mentally preparing myself for this. Blackie & Bigboy are the 2 I think do their "job" best (meaning predator warning, making sure all the girls are where they are supposed to be ... I swear, Blackie can count...pointing out treats, etc).

Roo was supposed to be a girl, came from the pullet bin at TSC...he had a sex change at 8 weeks old....

(Oh, Puppy Bowl was beyond cute :D)

That's what I thought, RaZ. lol Thought they got caught unawares when the winter came in so early and hard. Gale force winds, cold, etc. Now they have a chance to get the he!! out of here. I've never seen any Robins at my feeders during winter.

I am so sick of shoveling snow. Don't know where to put it any more!! More to come....

My sister recently moved to Tennessee. She keeps posting pictures and job ads for homes and employment. She keeps posting me pictures of her morning view. Her front windows face the mountains. ANYWAY... How ya'll feel about moving to TN with me, and we'll have snow days over a dusting of snow, or the possibility of snow?
