Currently we have well water with both sulphur and iron. It took a year before the water treatment specialist" agreed that we had sulphur. We had to replace the anode in the water heater and treat the well with bleach, and put hydrogen peroxide in the water heater. Every now and then I have to turn the water heater temp up to kill off the bacteria, because today's recommended water heater temp of 120 is enough to breed the bacteria but not kill it.

Funny, I just saw that Bob Vila advises everyone with a tank water heater to drain & refill something like every 3mos or so. The purpose is to protect that pressure safety valve.

91/100 on this test...I didn't think I did that well, been running a fever since yesterday afternoon. Pretty sure it's a sinus infection.
Yippee..can't wait to get on a plane...sinus infections & flying aren't the best mix :/

4 hours til flight time...canNOT wait to get home.....LONG 2 weeks....

Yeah, you're right; I probably don't want a jacuzzi. We almost bought a house with one about ten years ago and we likely would have never used the thing.

I've almost always had well water and it's been a love/hate thing. My parents' house has extremely hard water, an incredible amount of iron and other minerals in it that they have never been able to reconcile. They can't have a dishwasher and have to change their faucets out frequently because of the buildup. Our white clothes were always orange, growing up. In fact, to this day I still avoid buying white clothes and towels and sheets and stuff just because of the way I was raised with hard water. They don't have space in the boiler room (it's an old school house) for a decent softener and iron removal system apparently.

At our last house, the well water was alright and we did change out the tank once. It was a very deep pvc well that I was thankful for on account of the heavily sprayed potato field we were neighbors with. Now though, I'm nervous about this one being just yards from the heavy liquid manure application that's going on and not knowing how deep it is. I've been told to keep an eye on the surface water and believe me, I WILL. As soon as we get a thaw, I'm testing the well.

But yeah, I agree with the logic about the slime. I know this tank is old and they're fairly inexpensive to replace so maybe that's something to look into.

Replacing your tank won't get rid of any bacteria growing in the system....you've got to shock the pipes/tanks like Opa described....killing everything in the pipes.

The bacteria occurs naturally in our, and probably many places, water table...but it can bloom (grow LOT more) and become noticeable within the system...then either needs to be shocked or it can decrease on it own too.

I have opted for really spicy chicken tortilla soup & pepper jack & turkey panini here at the airport vs. Meds for the moment. The deli here at the Huntsville airport rocks. I LOVE their tortilla soup (their broccoli is really good, too, but not one of today's soups). Not very often that one is looking forward to eating at an airport. This meal with a large soda only $10...& the spice is successfully helping a bit

So, HSV is kinda like Flint's airport..small, 12 gates. They do have pre-check now like Metro, which I really dig...no taking off of shoes, coat, removing puter, etc. Anyway, a few weeks ago when I was leaving out of Flint my beautiful XMAS present gold bracelet set off the alarm. TSA guy told me, next time try crossing ur arms when you go thru, sometimes that gets the metal just far enough away from the sensors.
Well, since it was me, and only me at the moment going they security a little bit ago, we played ... It works. If I cross my arms in front of me, no prob..

My well water is both hard and high in iron, the special softener required was quite expensive. To me the water from a softener tastes funny, so I bring jugs of drinking water home from work, let them sit for a few days to declorinate, then run the water through a Britta filter. Boiling also declorinates water.

But I am glad to have any water, we had to drill 3 holes to get it, 2 of them were dry over 210 feet deep. It cost over $8,000 to get water. It is fortunately clean water with great pressure.
